Parks and Recreation upcoming season will be it’s last. It will consist of 13 episodes and will debut early in 2015. It will also take place three years in the future.

Here is what Chris Pratt had to say about the season:

“I think people are ready for it to be done. The creatives, they have been working very, very hard. They’ve done what 130, or 150 episodes or something like that? And so that’s a lot of work. Day in and day out they’re writing episodes and trying to create stories that can somehow stay fresh with this same core group of characters,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “They’ve done a tremendous job, but eventually you just run out of stories to tell about these characters without it becoming hackneyed and becoming sort of jumping the shark and turning into something that wouldn’t honor the characters. So I think everyone just got together and decided, hey, we’re going to give this thing the ending that it deserves and give the fans something that they can really enjoy – complete the stories for these characters.”

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

Amy Poehler should start campaigning NOW for Emmy 2015! With a 1-hour Finale in tow, hopefully she will finally take home the gold!

It would be so cool if she did but remember Steve Carell had a two-parter to submit the last time he was nominated and still did not win. So maybe Amy will suffer the same fate as him.

Megan Mullally Is Returning to Parks and Recreation for Season 7

By Chris King on Aug 20, 2014

Tammy 2 is coming back to Parks and Recreation, everyone, and it looks like this time she might get herself into a real “Jamm.”

As first reported by TVLine, actress Megan Mulllally will be returning to the NBC sitcom for its seventh and final season to reprise her role as Tammy 2, Ron Swanson’s twisted and crazy ex-wife. The most interesting news about her return, however, is that the episode that she will be returning in, which will be the second episode of season seven, is titled “Ron & Jammy.”

It appears that this may be the Parks and Recreation writers resurrecting a plotline from the show’s season six finale that ultimately ended up on the cutting room floor. While Tammy 2 did return for last season’s finale to try to stir up trouble, she was also supposed to hook up with Councilman Jamm (Jon Glasser) thanks to some conspiring and plotting from Ron and Diane. However, the episode, which was already stuffed with so much story, just didn’t have enough time for it.

Some other big guest star news:

‘SNL’ vet Rachel Dratch joins ‘Parks and Recreation’ for final season

    By on Aug 22, 2014 at 2:59PM

Another Saturday Night Live alum is heading to Pawnee.

Rachel Dratch will appear in the final season of Parks and Recreation for at least one episode, with a potential to return, EW has learned exclusively.

The SNL vet, whose other credits include 30 Rock and The Middle, will play the nanny to Leslie and Ben’s triplets.

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

I’m not saying she’ll win, but a noteworthy distinction is that he wasn’t nominated for a series finale, which has a lot of nostalgic sentimentality and to some small extent Emmy power on occasions.

Rashida Jones, Rob Lowe and Jon Hamm will be returning in Season 7, which will be comprised of the time between the penultimate S6 episode and the flashback from the time-jump seen in the S6 finale.

Here is what Chris Pratt had to say about the season:

Pratt sounds like a great guy, but he’s becoming a movie star fast. Of COURSE he’s ready for the low-rated network TV show he’s on to be done. He’s probably the last person involved whose quote would be representative of how most of the cast/crew feel.

Does anyone think that the series finale could get Parks and Rec their third writing nomination and/or their first directing

I think so, yes. Voters have shown that they appreciate Parks writing in the past, and I think it would be a perfect send-off since it likely won’t get a series nomination.

Season 7 premieres January 13, 2015. With back to back episodes airing each Tuesday(!), and the finale set for 2/24 after The Voice.

Interesting that they’re burning off episodes. I guess they’ll air Mr Robinson and One Big Happy when it’s done?

I don’t like how it is being called “burning off” like it is a chore to get these episodes out of the way but I am very excited it will be back in a month and a half
