PaulH is going to catch a case when he looks at the comedy actress lineup.

I am hoping they at least TRY pushing for Emmy Rossum, but that seesm doubtful since it looks like they’ll be pushing for Homeland (which submitted excellent FYC eps).

    *shrug*

Category fraud is alive and well.  The Overrated Three must have their egos massaged, *coughFalcoLinneyLouise-Parker*….it’s in their contracts, no doubt, while Showtime’s best comedy actress gets frakking relegated to SUPPORTING, even though she is the LEAD actress on House of Lies. Was Weeds even shown in the eligibility period?  If I’m Bell, I’m massively pissed right now.  Or will be once she pulls the virtual knife out of her back.

    Shame, Showtime.  Shame on you.

Falco has been really strong on “Nurse Jackie” so far this season Paul. If she keeps it up, I would have no problem with her getting another nomination. I know you think Bell is a lead on “House of Lies”, and that is okay, but I just don`t believe she is.

Let’s get one thing clear; Dawn Oliveri is NOT the lead actress on HoL.  She is not listed as such in the opening credits.  They do not go by alphabetical order, they go by importance of role.  Cheadle is lead actor, Bell’s name is right behind him.  So as much as YOU want to think Bell is supporting, the show’s own credit sequence proves you wrong.

    End of that discussion, then.

Falco, Linney, and Parker are the undisputed leads of their shows, whereas Bell seems to be riding the edge of lead/supporting. Putting the first 3 in supporting would be category fraud. And no voter is going to vote for Bell in lead over those 3, who all have far more name recognition, and are all Emmy winners and Tony nominees/Tony winners (and Linney’s an Oscar nominee).  Bell hasn’t reached that level of acclaim/respect yet. Also, Showtime has not gotten more than 2 actresses into comedy actress in one year, so putting a fourth into the category won’t help Bell’s chances. In supporting, Bell has a slightly better shot, though she’s not getting in (Bowen, Vergara, White, Wiig and Leachman are locked, and Krakowski, Lynch, and Rudolph are fighting for the last slot). The competition is tough.

Drea De Matteo will get nominated for Californication and will probably win, she was insanely good.

You can always count on Showtime to be the biggest category cheater of them all. People who clearly should be in supporting category are of course in guest one. Barf.

Btw, they should campaign the hell of Emmy Rossum. The girl deserves some recognition!

Please submit the pilot episode, Claire Danes! That being one of “Homeland”s FYC episodes is a promising sign.

I was hoping that Joan Cusack would go supporting instead of guest and be snubbed there, but in guest she’ll probably get in again. Louise Fletcher deserves it more, but hopefully she’ll get nodded too.

There were more drama guest actors and actresses that they could have campaigned for than that.

It’s a shame that Emmy Rossum doesn’t have a shot here in drama lead actress, but at least she’s in the conversation, and that’ll hopefully help her down the road in her career.

The comedy placements are pretty much expected. I wonder what Susan Sarandon has in her episode of “The Big C” later in the season. Her first appearance is next episode.

They should have submitted the finale for Cusack, that was pretty much the only episode she was good in all season.

To say Kristen Bell “seems to be riding the edge of lead/supporting” is to say Ted Nugent and Allen West and fellow republican ultra-right teabaggers seem to be sane people, which in fact both are simply a lie.  Do I need to post screencaps of House of Lies to show Bell is ahead of Dawn Oliveri in the credits?   It’s already been established in the show’s opening credits that Bell is lead actress.  End of discussion.  Move along, nothing to see here.

I don’t want the Overrated Three to drop to supporting, I want them the hell out of comedy series, period.  Nurse Jackie, Big C and Weeds are CINO’s – Comedies in Name Only.  They’ve always been drama-reliant.   I want a comedy series actress category with Bell, Courteney Cox, Zooey Deschanel, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler and Kat Dennings instead of those three frauds.

The fact that Bowen isn’t in lead actress, like she should, and Wiig isn’t in a comedy series, technically, but a variety one, is another bone of category fraud for another day…

Interesting.. I never saw Kristen Bell as a Lead on House of Lies.. I only watched about half the season. The show never really sucked me in.

They should have submitted the finale for Cusack, that was pretty much the only episode she was good in all season.

I thought Cusack was good the whole season, but I agree that the finale was her best and most dramatic tape. However, “Parenthood” was her second best tape. Hopefully it’ll help Louise Fletcher get in for “Can I Have A Mother”. She was incredible here.

I really hope Showtime pushes ‘Shameless’ and especially Emmy Rossum and Jeremy Allen White. They’ve consistently been the show’s MVPs, and they had strong material this season.
