First teaser for Sam Mendes’ upcoming “psychosexual horror” series for Showtime:September 23, 2013 at 1:47 pm #301162
Are the Dexter’s writers involved? if positive. I’m out.September 23, 2013 at 1:55 pm #301163
Sam Mendes did Skyfall. On the other hand, he did Revolutionary Road.
“Psychosexual thriller” makes me think of Black Swan. The rest of the premise sounds like Once Upon a Time.
Then there is Showtime, which is usually hit and miss even within its shows.
So, we shall see.September 23, 2013 at 1:56 pm #301164
Also… American Beauty. I know it’s cool to hate on that movie now, but I still love it.September 23, 2013 at 3:20 pm #301165
The teaser last night made me curious so I looked it up on imdb and the cast list is very interesting (in a good way)…given Mendes involvement I’m for sure going to check this out.February 14, 2014 at 7:26 pm #301167
It turns out that Showtime just wanted its own American Horror Story.
It looks as if this will not be the top-categories contender that we suspected.February 15, 2014 at 4:31 am #301169

As many problems as I have with American Beauty’s script and some of its performances I still don’t mind Mendes’ directing victory. At the very least he pushed the hysterics and cliches in enough of an interesting yet clinical frame to make the movie feel more substantial and epic than it had any right to.February 16, 2014 at 1:19 am #301171
Oh Renaton you will never change. I wonder if takes that much energy from your body and mind to actually explain your points of view instead of showing up to different threads and bash everything just for the sake of it. It’s growing old because for the past two weeks that’s all I’ve been seeing you doing.February 16, 2014 at 2:37 am #301172
I still love American Beauty. Right up there in my all-time favorite movies as a matter of fact. This looks fucking stupid, though.February 16, 2014 at 3:07 am #301173
Fact: American Beauty is better than most movies that have won Best Picture, but it still wasn’t one of the top ten movies of 1999.February 16, 2014 at 3:11 am #301174
I have trouble determining what movie could have been chosen to accurately represent how great a year 1999 was.
