We are starting to get news of different networks ordering shows to possibly premiere in Fall 2014 or Spring 2015.

Please post news of those orders in this thread. That way, we don’t have 15 threads about different pilots!

USA PICKS UP HALF HOUR ORIGINAL COMEDY SERIES “BENCHED”

    UNIVERSAL CITY – January 24, 2014 – USA Network has picked-up the
ABC Signature and The Mark Gordon Company produced courtroom comedy BENCHED.  The series stars Eliza Coupe (“Happy Endings”)
and Jay Harrington (“Better Off Ted”) and marks the first series out of
ABC Signature, the boutique division of ABC Studios.   The pick-up was
announced today by Chris McCumber, President, USA Network.
BENCHED is one of those unique series that creates an
immediate connection with the audience. The lead is played brilliantly
by Eliza Coupe, who has undeniable chemistry with Jay Harrington’s
character,” said McCumber. “With Mark Gordon and his incredible pedigree
behind this project, we are proud to add BENCHED to our line-up of original comedies.”
“We are thrilled to have such an incredibly creative team in front of and behind the camera on BENCHED,”
said Melanie Frankel, Vice President Comedy Development, USA Network,
“The auspices that this project attracted are a true testament to the
fantastic script that Michaela and Damon wrote.”
BENCHED is USA’s first series pick-up of the year.  The network also has several drama pilots in the pipeline including COMPLICATIONS, THE NOVICE, RUSH and THE UNTITLED JABLONSKI PROJECT.  In November, USA picked up the event series DIG, an action adventure drama from co-creators and executive producers Tim Kring (“Heroes”) and Gideon Raff (“Homeland”).
BENCHED is a single-camera half-hour courtroom comedy that
focuses on Nina (Coupe), a dedicated, career-driven corporate attorney
who has a very public nervous breakdown after getting passed up for an
expected promotion, and finds herself working as a public defender.  Her
personal and professional worlds are turned upside down when she joins
the ranks of the legal world’s underdogs and very quickly realizes that
the law isn’t quite as fair as she once thought.  Jay Harrington stars
as Nina’s new colleague, Phil, a tall, dark and handsome, if not a
little scruffy, public defender and avid gambler.
The series is from executive producers and writers Michaela Watkins (“Saturday Night Live,” “Trophy Wife”)
and Damon Jones (“Halfway Home”).  John Enbom, co-creator of the
critically acclaimed comedy “Party Down,” is also an executive
producer.  Mark Gordon (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Criminal Minds,” “Ray Donovan”) and Andrea Shay (“Family Tools”) are executive producing for The Mark Gordon Company.

I’ve been wondering why Sharon Stone hasn’t done a tv series. I don’t know how this action drama will turn out but the Golden Globes will probably embrace her since they like her so much.

NBC Picks Up Dating Comedy Pilot From David Janollari & Jason Bateman; Lesbian Lead Comedy From Liz Feldman & Ellen DeGeneres
    By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Tuesday January 28, 2014 @ 12:08pm PST

NBC has added another comedy pilot to the mix, the single-camera Two To Go, from Universal TV and studio-based David Janollari Entertainment and Jason Bateman‘s Aggregate. Written/co-exec produced by Bryan Shukoff and Kevin Chesley (The Hard Times Of RJ Berger, which Janollari developed and launched at MTV), Two To Go centers on longtime best friends Kurt and Laura, who grapple with the challenges of modern-day dating while their group of friends try and prove that they are destined to be together. Janollari, Bateman and Jim Garavente executive produce. This is Janollari’s second pilot at NBC, joining drama Salvation. Aggregate has upcoming NBC comedy series Growing Up Fisher.

Sixteen years after Ellen DeGeneres came out on her ABC sitcom, another broadcast comedy with a lesbian lead is inching closer to primetime. NBC has given a pilot order to a multi-camera comedy executive produced by DeGeneres. The project, titled One Big Happy, is written/exec produced by openly gay comedy scribe Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls). In it, a gay (woman) and straight (man) best friends decide to have a baby together, but things get complicated when the man finds the love of their life. Warner Bros TV and DeGeneres’ studio-based A Very Good Production are producing, with AVGP’s Jeff Kleeman also exec producing. Feldman previously worked for two years on DeGeneres’ hit syndicated talk show and wrote for DeGeneres’ first stint as Oscar host. (DeGeneres is back on Oscar duty on March 2). NBC has a tradition with gay-themed comedies, most notably Will & Grace, and launched two half-hour series centered on gay men the last two seasons with The New Normal and Sean Saves The World.

CBS’ Female Secretary Of State Drama From Barbara Hall & Morgan Freeman Gets Pilot Order

    By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Monday January 27, 2014 @ 5:45pm PST

CBS has given a pilot green light to Madam Secretary, from Joan Of Arcadia creator Barbara Hall and Oscar winner Morgan Freeman. The drama, written by Hall, explores the personal and professional life of a maverick female Secretary of State as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life. CBS TV Studios is producing with Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment, with the company’s Freeman, Lori McCreary and Tracy Mercer executive producing alongside Hall. While NBC, ABC and Fox are pretty much done with their drama pilot orders, CBS is just starting. This marks the network’s first drama pilot pickup. CBS also has straight-to-series drama Battle Creek

Tea Leoni was cast as the lead in “Madam Secretary” which I find rather surprising. I can’t really picture her in this role.

I believe NBC has also ordered a pilot for a Katherine Higel drama called “State of Affairs” or something like that.
