The first season got 12 nominations this year, and with second season receiving even more acclaim what nominations/wins can we expect?July 19, 2014 at 9:16 am #324665
I am going to guess the same amount.July 19, 2014 at 9:17 am #324666
12 nominations is a lot so I don’t see that number going up that much, no matter how much more acclaimed the second season was. Maybe it can gain 2-3 nominations at most.July 19, 2014 at 9:27 am #324667
I think Uzo Aduba deserves the win this year, but man she does not deserve a nomination next year. If anyone deserves a Guest Actress nomination, it is Barbara Rosenblatt.July 19, 2014 at 9:31 am #324668
I would love Orange to dominate supporting and guest actress with women such as Aduba, Brooks, Leyva, Mulgrew, Rosenblat, Stone, Toussaint and Wiley to name a few of the spectacular performances in the second season. Of course Schilling and Mulgrew will be nominated again and Aduba will most likely move into supporting and Lyonne possibly could move as well. The guest women I think getting in are Rosenblat, Stone and Toussaint and possibly Cox by name alone. If the show loses series this year I could see a comparison being made with Ally McBeal winning in it’s second season and beating a five time winner.July 19, 2014 at 9:42 am #324669
Stone is so deserving this season, she’s a powerhouse on ”A Whole Other Hole” and Brooks has been great too.July 19, 2014 at 9:48 am #324670
If it were up to me, I’d vote as follows:
Lead: Taylor Schilling.
Terrific submission with the season 2 premiere. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s my personal lead comedy actress winner by the end of next year. She could win too, if people tire of Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Lorraine Toussaint (I hope she chooses to go supporting where she belongs)
Getting 3 actresses into supporting could be difficult, but it’s still possible. I
don’t think Uzo Aduba was as good as she was last season, so I’m not counting on a nomination.
Lorraine Toussaint (if she submits here)
Rosenblat was amazing. Laverne Cox didn’t do much this season, but the vagina speech alone would make a second nomination okay by me.July 19, 2014 at 9:54 am #324671

Supporting: Aduba, Mulgrew
Guest: Toussaint, Rosenblat
Lyonne, Stone, Brooks, and Wiley would all be deserving nominees in my book.
If Cox is nominated again, it should at least be for the episode where her son visits. The silent joy on Cox’s face was her best acting moment of the season.
Again, I do not get the Aduba-hate here.July 19, 2014 at 10:37 am #324673
It’s not hate. It’s called having great expectations for her character and feeling let down. I was invested in what was in store for Crazy Eyes in season 2… But her arc was disappointing. She remained flawless as usual but the plot just didn’t work for me. She was crazy good in the finale though and still merits a nomination but not a win in my books.July 19, 2014 at 10:39 am #324674
Yeah, simply thinking she had a better season last year than this year does not equate to hate. She was one of the stand outs last year, and would be worthy again next year, but this season Toussaint, Stone, Rosenblat and Brooks were more memorable, imo. You’re allowed to think otherwise, but a differing opinion =/= hate.
And since this is a comedy category, A Whole Other Hole would be better for Cox.July 19, 2014 at 10:59 am #324675

I would disagree about Aduba. I think her work in the finale alone warrants a nomination and very likely could be a winning tape. Her interrogation scene was brilliant, IMO
Oh I know what you’re saying – her work in the finale was absolutely amazing, but as a season-long performance, she was pretty underwhelming. I don’t hate her at all or her performance (she was still great), but I just felt a little disappointed.

I couldn’t have put it better myself – she was amazing in the finale, and I think she should get nominated, but not over some of the more memorable ladies this year.
Also, does anyone think any of the men deserve any recognition? I know they aren’t the show’s strong points, but I felt Nick Sandow was actually pretty good and evolved quite a bit this season.

OK. I wasn’t using “hate” literally. But, whatever you call it, I still don’t get it. And that’s my opinion.July 19, 2014 at 11:12 am #324677
I thought Nick Sandow as Caputo was by far the best male actor this year. I think the lack of name recognition, and being overshadowed by the female cast means he probaaly won’t be remembered, but he would be very much deserving, imo.
