I also think both have potential, but I Donovan caught my attention the most…I never liked Schreiber as a movie actor but he could be great on tv, let’s see…Jon Fu***** Voight everyone!

Ray Donovan looks very much like a procedural that happens to have a serialized sub-plot. Didn’t find it particularly promising, and I felt any momentum it gets comes from the moody song rather than what’s on the scene.

Masters Of Sex somehow almost feels like they were trying to undersell it. The cliche song for anything sex-related (“Oh La La”), and less time on it than Ray Donovan, and the little they had was women climaxing, because they want to promote the show as “provocative”. But the premise and overall concept of a serialized drama about sexuality is intriguing.

What happen to Paul Bettany!? Thought he was the lead? Nothing against Michael Sheen (Wesley is my dude!), but I my reason for watching this went away.

My understanding is that Ray Donovan is much further along in production, which is why ‘Masters’ got short shrift

Ok, the trailer for Ray Donovan is much better than the preview (even if there’s still too much reliance on the moody song). but this time you have a bigger feel of the world and tone of the show.

And when are we gotta see more of Masters Of Sex? Is it being retooled ro something? I remember people were making predictions for the show at this year’s Emmys, and yet, not a sign of the show.

Ray Donovan will premiere in June after Dexter, that’s why they released a trailer. Masters of Sex will only air in September, after Homeland, so we will have to wait a little more for things about the show

I thought the show would be all about Liev’s job as a ‘fixer’, but the trailer really seems to focus heavily on the father/son conflict.

Was that a shot of Jon Voight clubbing in the trailer?  Hahahahaha.  Despite that unintentionally humorous moment, I really liked that trailer and how it put the inter-familial conflict front and center as opposed to the procedural ” Hollywood fixer” stuff.

I think they probably downplayed the procedural aspect to helps raise expectations about the show. Because the premise still sounds stupid, so better to sell the twisted family drama more instead of focusing on the procedural aspect. I don’t think this show will be anything special, but it does have some potential to be very interesting.
