    How the game is played:

    1) At the start of this round, I will ask for posters who are interested to sign up as a “Network”. Each network is allowed to have 2 comedies and 2 dramas. It’s up to the network to decide whether a particular program is a drama or a comedy. Once decided, they are not allowed to switch categories in future rounds.

Programs that have contended in the miniseries category in the real Emmys are allowed to contend here as long they have a minimum of 6 episodes to submit for consideration in the event they are nominated for either of the Series category. The allocation of programs will be conducted in a separate Private Message with all “Networks”. For the first round, The programs must be available online to allow for panel viewing in the later part of the round. But with it being a little hard now to find online streaming sites, I have not enforced this rule. It will be an advantage though if they can find episodes so judges don’t need to find.

    2) Once networks have been confirmed the 4 programs they have, they will need to come up with a contenders list categorizing the various actors and actresses in the program into Lead, Supporting, Guest, Writing and Directing categories. It’s up to the networks’ discretion how they want to categorize the various actors they have for consideration.

    3) Each series is allowed to submit as many contenders as they want in their respective categories. It’s up to the network’s discretion whether it is to their advantage to submit as many or as little contenders in the respective categories.

All the contenders need to be submitted by the given deadline to be considered eligible for awards consideration.

    4) Once the contenders list are revealed, everybody in GoldDerby (including networks) are allowed to vote. They will rank their top 10 in the respective category and PM it to me by the given deadline.

    5) The Top 10 (or 11 or 12 if there’s a tie) will be revealed after the whole tabulating process. The list will be in alphabetical order and won’t reveal the ranking of the various contenders that made the runoffs list.

    6) Networks that have contenders in the runoffs list will then need to submit a sample episode where the panels will view the episodes and rank them accordingly.

    7) The combined ranking of the panel and popular vote will then determines the final 5 nominees (6 or 7 if there’s a tie) in the respective categories.

    8) For the writing and directing categories however, nominees will be decided purely on popular vote. This will help to ease the number of panels a poster to be in during the runoffs.

    8) There will then be a different judging panel that will determine the final winners. This will include the writing and directing categories.

    9) In a mock awards ceremony, the final winners will be announced.

    10) The Top 7 networks will move on to the next round and 3 new networks are recruited to join the next round. Networks that have left the game will be allowed to re-join the game again after 2 rounds.

Networks, just a reminder. I do not need any specific episodes yet for the contenders submissions list except for writing and directing categories. And unlike the Emmys, a particular director can submit more than one episode for a particular show. It’s up to network’s discretion to decide whether it is to their advantage to submit more than one though. Have received a few contenders list. You are still allow to amend or submit more as long as it’s before the deadline. Thanks.

What is the deadline, again? I’m not sure if you’ve mentioned a date, I’ve probably forgotten it.

Hey everyone! Glad to be back! This time around I’ve still got Community and Breaking Bad, but now I’ve also picked up Homeland and Fawlty Towers.

As you might know, each show has to pick one episode to represent itself in the preliminary voting. I’ve already decided my picks for Homeland and Fawlty Towers, and am currently rewatching Breaking Bad Season 2 to decide that one (right now it’s between “Peekaboo,” “4 Days Out,” and “ABQ.”)

But I’m having a lot of trouble picking one episode for Community. There are so many good ones from that year, and while it isn’t my favorite episode of the season, I think that “Cooperative Calligraphy” has the best combination of hillarity, creativity, and appeal to non fans. But i’ve also considered going with episodes like “Mixology Certification”, “Critical Film Studies” (my favorite), or of course the classic “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas”. What do all the Community fans out there think? Is “Cooperative Calligraphy” the best pick to represent the show to a wide variety of voters? Let me know!

For writing, go with Telethon, and for Directing, go with 94 Meetings.

    theproblemdog,

you don’t have to submit episodes at this stage yet, except for your writing and directing submissions. You start submitting episodes after everyone votes for their top 10, and the top 10 lists are revealed. THEN you submit your episodes for each contender that made the Top 10s.
