    How the game is played:

    1) At the start of this round, I will ask for posters who are interested to sign up as a “Network”. Each network is allowed to have 2 comedies and 2 dramas. It’s up to the network to decide whether a particular program is a drama or a comedy. Once decided, they are not allowed to switch categories in future rounds.

Programs that have contended in the miniseries category in the real Emmys are allowed to contend here as long they have a minimum of 6 episodes to submit for consideration in the event they are nominated for either of the Series category. The allocation of programs will be conducted in a separate Private Message with all “Networks”. For the first round, The programs must be available online to allow for panel viewing in the later part of the round. But with it being a little hard now to find online streaming sites, I have not enforced this rule. It will be an advantage though if they can find episodes so judges don’t need to find.

    2) Once networks have been confirmed the 4 programs they have, they will need to come up with a contenders list categorizing the various actors and actresses in the program into Lead, Supporting, Guest, Writing and Directing categories. It’s up to the networks’ discretion how they want to categorize the various actors they have for consideration.

    3) Each series is allowed to submit as many contenders as they want in their respective categories. It’s up to the network’s discretion whether it is to their advantage to submit as many or as little contenders in the respective categories.

All the contenders need to be submitted by the given deadline to be considered eligible for awards consideration.

    4) Once the contenders list are revealed, everybody in GoldDerby (including networks) are allowed to vote. They will rank their top 10 in the respective category and PM it to me by the given deadline.

    5) The Top 10 (or 11 or 12 if there’s a tie) will be revealed after the whole tabulating process. The list will be in alphabetical order and won’t reveal the ranking of the various contenders that made the runoffs list.

    6) Networks that have contenders in the runoffs list will then need to submit a sample episode where the panels will view the episodes and rank them accordingly.

    7) The combined ranking of the panel and popular vote will then determines the final 5 nominees (6 or 7 if there’s a tie) in the respective categories.

    8) For the writing and directing categories however, nominees will be decided purely on popular vote. This will help to ease the number of panels a poster to be in during the runoffs.

    8) There will then be a different judging panel that will determine the final winners. This will include the writing and directing categories.

    9) In a mock awards ceremony, the final winners will be announced.

    10) The Top 7 networks will move on to the next round and 3 new networks are recruited to join the next round. Networks that have left the game will be allowed to re-join the game again after 2 rounds unless in special circumstances.

    Game Updates:

The networks are now currently in the midst of submitting their various contenders in the respective 18 categories. Once all networks has submitted, the list will be posted and everyone will be given a chance to vote to determine the popular ranking’s nominees. You do not have to a be a judge to vote in the popular vote.

I am also still currently looking for judges. If you are interested, add your name to the list below.

Thanks Tyler! I can’t remember whether you have judged before but if not, it will be quite the eye-opener to how the Emmy tapes system work.

If anyone has any opinion on which actors need to be submitted in which categories (or which episodes need to be submitted for writing/directing) for my shows (The Wire S3, Lost S2, HIMYM S2 and New Girl S1), please PM me ! I have my ideas already but, especially for writing/directing, I’m interested in what people think.

Take note you are doing Lost, Season 2, Teproc. Cos you wrote Season 3.

And networks, for some PMs, I mistakenly put the deadline as 21 Jul. Please take note it should be 21 Sep. Thanks.

Reminder to networks that deadline for category placements is by 21 Sep, 1130 PM EST.

Currently have received from  jja91, Tom_Scavo, Leeman, Teproc & theproblemdog.

Networks can still continue to send or edit their placements. I won’t be telling you if you are missing anything so please do check you have everything that you want for consideration submitted.

I am still looking for more judges so do copy and paste your name on the list if you wish to help out. Thanks!

I’m almost done with my placements, but I’m wavering on a couple of them.  Please help me GoldDerby community!

    1) J.J. Abrams (writing) for Alias: This is a stumper.  Abrams wrote so many episode for the show in season 2, I can’t figure out which one to pick!  I want an episode less rooted in the craziness that is Alias so that it appeals to a wider audience.  I currently have the season premiere, “The Enemy Walks In,” down, but I’m open to others.  “Phase One” and “The Telling” would also be worthy.  I’m sticking to one writing submission for Alias to not split votes.

    2) Drama Guest Actress for Grey’s Anatomy: There are so many women that did a great job in Grey’s season 3.  Diahann Carroll, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Burton, and Loretta Devine are the ones I have listed, but there are so many more I could put on here.  Do you all have any advice?  Am I submitting too many?

    3) Comedy Writing and Directing for Glee: I’m going with “Choke” for Writing and “Dance with Somebody” and “Nationals” for Directing.  Tell me if there’s anything else I should consider.  I feel like these are the best showcases, but a different perspective would be helpful!

Any help you can give to me at all would be much appreciated.  Feel free to respond on here or send me a PM if you have comments.  Please try to respond by the end of tomorrow!

    And, FYC:

    Alias (Season 2)
    Grey’s Anatomy (Season 3)
Arrested Development (THE FINAL FOX SEASON; season 3)
Glee (THE GRADUATION SEASON; season 3)

Only Kevin and Macbeth have not sent any contenders yet for any categories. Do remember to do it by the deadline or you will be replaced. The other networks are still allowed to change or submit contenders till the deadline.

What about a more comedic episode for Writing? Maybe Props?

Since we’re asking, I’m struggling with the placement of Idris Elba for The Wire. Right now I have him in lead but I’m not entirely sure he can compete.
