I noticed that based on some prior submissions, in some years, supporting actors and actresses submitted only one episode for Emmy judging, whereas more recent years they are submitting only one episode.    Were the rules different in the 70s/80s?  Did they submit one or two episodes back then?

From what I know, they submitted two episodes on supporting categories until late 90’s/early 00’s

I have PDFs of the rules going back to 2001.  From 2001 through 2006, supporting nominees submitted two episodes (or one double-length); in 2007, it was changed to one, but it could be double-length.

Through 2009, episodes were edited to only include scenes that the supporting actor/actress was in; in 2010, it changed to full episodes being submitted.

They should start doing that again. There probavly would have been different winners of these categories in the past few years.
