Hey, do we have any idea who might win Best Reality Host?  Seeing as the Reality&Variety categories are so prone to repeat winners, I am inlcined to go with Tom Bergeron.  Since he won last year, it seems very likely to me they may just go ahead and award him again.  They loved Jeff Probst for several years, so I can see them doing the same thing with Bergeron.

I had no problem with his win last year.  While the show has grown old and is running out of steam (not to mention D-List celebrities to cast), he continues to do a great job.  Not to mention the fact hosting Dancing with the Stars is like being in charge of a three-ring circus.  He does an impressive jpb mananging and handling all the moving parts and pieces on a weekly basis.

On the other hand, Dancing with the Stars has had two less than special seasons this past year.  The all-stars edition and the past spring season were not quite as popular or well recieved as past seasons.  Dancing with the stars appears to be losing steam and popularity.  Maybe the above might be reason to award someone else Best Reality Host.

I have watched Project Runway on and off over the years.  While I love Heidi Klum, I cannot see her winning for what she does on Project Runway. Compared to the other nominated host, I cannot see her winning for the minimal work she does on Runway.  I really love Tim Gunn, but I honestly feel it is a stretch to call him the “host” of Project Runway.

To me the two who probably should win are either Ryan Seacrest or Cat Deeley.  While I am not a big fan of Seacrest, he does a nice job on Idol and has been there since the beginning.  Just for the longevity factor, I can picture the academy maybe tossing him a bone.  Although Idol has become such a trainwreck that they may want to avoid it entirely.  Judging by the fact they have missed best reality- competition two years in a row now, I can see that happening.

I personally would love to see Cat Deeley win for her work on So You Think You Can Dance.  I believe she has been hosting the show for all but one season.  I think she is one of the best reality-host out there, and this would be a nice way to recognize that.  Just like Seacrest, she has the longevity factor as well.  Few people have better chemistry and rapport with the contestants, judges, studio-audeince, and TV-audience than she does.  I also think her job is a lot more difficult than she makes it appear, which is a sign of a truly great host.

I do not watch The Taste or Betty White’s Off Their Rockers so I cannot really comment on either Anthony Bourdain or Betty White.  Even though I get the feeling Betty White’s nomination is nothing more than just name checking.  My personal favorite and pick would be Cat Deeley.  I am really hoping she can win.  Especially considering SYTYCD has been on the bubble and may not come back next summer.  So this may be her last chance to win for the show.

I too would love to see Cat Deeley win Reality host but I fear Emmy will get lazy and just give it to Tom Bergeron. As long as Betty White doesn’t win. Don’t get me wrong I love Betty White the actress but it would be completely unfair to everyone else in that category who have been doing their shows for years.
Does anyone know what the episode submissions are for the variety series? I’m hoping the Colbert Report submits well. I predict this year the Daily Show will lose and it will either go to the Colbert Report, Jimmy Fallon or Jimmy Kimmel. SNL or Real Time would be a big surprise. Kimmel could be a spoiler if he submits the Matt Damon takes over episode.

I watched the Matt Damon episode and it was great for how gimmicky it was, but it wasn’t a very good show that should/could win over the competition. Damon was a bit uncomfortable, it seemed very unprepared. And they basically did their usual show but with a different person hosting, it wasn’t that special either, it was just Damon introducing people and these people coming and going. Not very different from what a regular show would look like.

I think Tom Bergeron will repeat and there would be nothing wrong with that as he is a real host. I think Ryan Seacrest should win too and should’ve won already. But, he’s an extremely popular person on an extremely popular show, has been there since the beginning and the show and the start of this category and he has yet to win. They must really, really dislike him because he looked like one of the obvious winner all these years.

Cat Deely is as filler here as Dance is a filler in its category. I don’t know if being nominated with Tim Gunn who everybody loves will help Heidi Klum finally win this. She was never a real host, she never did anything special, but now that this is combo, they are worthy of a nomination.

Burdain might be even more filler than Deely, and as somebody who suffered through an entire episode of The Taste, I don’t get how he gets to be called a host on that show, he was a judge with two other people.

Deeley should win, but Bergeron will probably repeat.

Fingers crossed that Ryan Seacrest finally wins here.

Another win by Bergeron would be expected, but I’m hoping for new blood here.

It is surprising that Seacrest could never claim a victory here, but he has managed to make due with his win for Jaime Oliver’s “Food Revolution”, so I don’t feel as pressured to root for him anymore.

I’m kind of hoping that Cat Deeley takes it. I remember how funny it was when Jimmy Kimmel dropped her name as a probable frontrunner during his Emmy monologue last year.

I hope Cat Deely takes it, but she doesn’t, I’d love to see Tim Gunn win an Emmy. He deserves it too.

Could you please clarify what you mean when you say Cat Deely is filler and Dance is filler.  Do you mean filler as in the Academy will keep nominating them with no intention of awarding them ever?  Or do you mean they are filler as you do not personally like either and feel they do not deserved to be nominated?

If it is the latter, please explain why you feel that way.  I think most people would agree with the sentiment that SYTYCD is one of the best reality-competition shows on TV.  Also most would say Cat Deely is one of the best host and more than deserving of an Emmy.

To me the only two who really have no business winning are Bourdain and White.  If anyone iare filler nominees, I would consider it those two, and possibly even Klum, who has yet to win after multiple nominations.  I have a feeling Bergeron will win, but it wold be a pleasant surprise if Deely could nab a surprise win.

Excuse me?  Where did you hear this?  What does Fox have that could replace it?  (“Tonight on Fox, for those of you who missed them, a repeat of the Hell’s Kitchen and Masterchef episodes from two weeks ago.”)

Don’t read too much into Fox getting rid of the results show; I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because everybody got tired of watching them try to pad something that should last about 15 minutes into an hour show, and Fox didn’t turn it into a half-hour show because it didn’t have anything to put in the second half-hour.

Besides – the show’s current season is eligible for the 2014 Emmys.

Heidi and Tim make a good team. Lifetime is really going for it with Project Runway. All the format changes in season 12 are a testament to how badly they want an Emmy. Adding Tim into the host mix was a strategic move and I think it might pay off, considering Tim had to convince the judges to not eliminate a contestant who went on to win the season.

That Don Guy, I  said this for multipe reasons.  Multiple sources reported last year that SYTYCD was on the bubble.  It was not just the fact Fox moved SYTYCD to only one night a week.  If anything, that has helped the show.  And apparently other networks have taken noticed, as I believe Dancing with the Stars is condensing their schedule this upcoming fall.

The fact FOX waited until Dec. 20 last year to announce season 10 made me nervous for the fate of the show.  Maybe the change in their head of Reality Programming will effect the fate of the show.  To my knowledge, the ratings have been a little bit down from season nine.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the show and I am hoping it gets renewed for another season.  I am also really hoping Cat Deely can win an Emmy at some point for hosting.  I just worry about the future of the show for the above mentioned reasons.

I thought that Real Time was on thin ice since it has been nominated for so long and that it could fall out “suddenly” like The Late Show did a couple of years ago.  After all, Portlandia had been nominated for writing and directing and it just won the WGA award.  Real Time ended up not falling out, but it looks like Late Night
was the actual vulnerable one.  All of the other variety series got
nominations other than just the main category
    (writing/directing/editing/sound mixing/technical direction), but that
was its only nomination.  I thought that Jimmy Fallon had enough good
buzz still.  He should have enough buzz from taking over The Tonight Show to get in next year, but he might not.

I don’t watch the show, but I like Cat Deely, I’ve seen her in other places and I do like her.

Filler as in they will never be rewarded. I think we can all agree that the show will never win, Amazing Race will keep winning and in a logical world, it deserves to, it’s still the best and more dificult show to produce. In an award watching way, of course it doesn’t deserve to keep winning. We’re past being tired of seeing it win, now it’s just stupid.

I see Deely as filler too. Bourdain is of course last on the list, but I don’t think Deely is anywhere else but in 5th/4th place along with White. The thing here is that the category is on its sixth year and we’ve only had two winners, the four time winner isn’t nominated anymore. So there’s really no telling right now where it will go. Is Bergeron the new Probst, or is somebody else going to be rewarded? It might be Cat Deely of course, but I doubt it.
