I thought that The Ricklantis Mixup was phenomenal. Possible contender for my new favourite episode of the series. I was just wondering a few days ago if they would ever come back to one of the things referenced in this episode (avoiding spoilers)

Stunning. And we didn’t even go to Atlantis.

I was a little surprised the scene in the opening credits with the four Mortys (including the lizard one) made it into an episode. This makes me wonder what other scenes in the opening will/won’t make it. I assume the one where everybody’s face is a butt won’t, but the other two I can think of off the top of my head is the one with the two Summers and the one with the Mortys in retail packaging.

But no Interdimensional Cable this season? I hope (if I understood the preview right) “Morty’s Deleted Adventures” (actual title: Morty’s Mind Blowers) makes up for it.

Say…did anyone else notice that President Morty bears a striking resemblance to Evil Morty? (Why, yes, pretty much every Morty bears a striking resemblance to Evil Morty – how about that?)
(What’s that? “Evil Morty’s background music,” you say?)

Justin Roiland would be a great submission for Voiceover with this episode. It’d be a tough call for the win given how strong the BoJack Horseman cast was in season 4, but overall I’m glad that the two best cartoons on TV are still having such strong seasons.

If this year showed us anything, it is that there is an advantage to playing multiple characters. Then again, this category is prone to namechecking as well, so don’t count out someone like Susan Sarandon (who was in “Pickle Rick”).

I dunno why, but I preferred “Pickle Rick” or even the “Mad Max” Episode way better. This one was still excellent.

That assumes the episode is not submitted as the show’s Animated Program entry – while an animated series can submit in both Animated Program and Comedy Series Writing, it can’t submit the same episode in both.

I was talking about my personal list. The emmys are to stupid to nominate this.

Isn’t that what was said about Archer once as well?

yes, it’s also what’s been said about The Leftovers, The Wire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and more.

Not to mention Bojack Horseman. But if As Told By Ginger can get nominated for Animated Program three straight years…

Speaking of Nickelodeon, I wonder how much consideration they’ll give Craig Bartlett for Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie (which, despite its title, is, I think, only going to be an hour long). That may take away what I assume will be one of the two spots not pretty much reserved for Fox’s Sunday shows.

Overall this was the most inconsistent season, though I’m still keen for the next one whenever they get around to it.

My immediate thought after finishing the finale was that Rick and Morty is starting to remind me of Community, which was still capable of producing amazing episodes after season 2, but struggled more with consistency.

I liked that the finale had a subtler, character-driven cliffhanger as opposed to the huge story that season 2 set up. My hope is that this season ends up feeling like a transition towards whatever they want to do next.

Their Emmy submission should probably be one of Rickshank Redemption or Ricklantis Mixup, with Pickle Rick as a spoiler because it was so popular with fans.

Their emmy submission HAS to be The Ricklantis Mixup.
