Lupe Ontiveros passed away today at 69. The reason of her death was liver cancer. She will be the most remembered (I’d guess) for her roles as infamous Yolanda on “Selena” and as Juanita Solis, Gabrielle’s mother-in-law on “Desperate Housewives”. For her performance in the series she received her Primetime Emmy nomination (losing to Kathryn Joosten, also from DH, who also died this year).
I always really liked what this actress brought to her roles and adored bumping on her on screen, like with “As Good As It Gets”. R.I.P., Lupe, and thank you!July 27, 2012 at 11:13 am #252909
Is Desperate Housewives ending a curse, I mean two women in less the two months who appeared on the show. It’s sad that she has robbed of the emmy, I mean I know Joosten was great but I would have been happy if she won for season 1 and Joosten be happy with her second win.July 27, 2012 at 11:24 am #252910
I’ve always enjoyed Lupe’s performances.
The two that stand out for me are “Chuck & Buck” and “Real Women have Curves”.
Rest In Peace, LupeJuly 27, 2012 at 11:44 am #252911

This is such a terrible loss. What is going on with all of the deaths this year? Below is one of my favorite scenes with Ontiveros, opposite Jack Nicholson.
As Good As It Gets
Prayers and thoughts with her friends and family. RIP, Lupe.

She was great as the best-friend-turned-villain in Selena. And acting opposite Jennifer Lopez made her seem even better. She will be missed. RIP.
