One of the biggest crimes of all time is that Bellamy Young has never been nominated for an Emmy. What the actual FUCK?!?!?!? She was amazing in this episode. Joy, Fear, sorrow, anger, embarrassment. She would win on the episode system without a doubt if she got a nomination. Kerry Washington was great. I hope she can make a comeback at the Emmys. She is so great. Darby Stanchfield was also great. I wish Scandal would get back on the radar. Great premiere, and great performances.

Snooze. The episode just felt tired. I was bored and we knew where it was going the whole time.
I saw during the credits that Shonda wrote it. Some of the dialogue was just laughable. I really miss the show that I used to love.
I found the asasination of the newly elected president border line offensive bc we just got over a real life election. I just don’t think Scandal has much life left in it.

The cast went around screaming “You won’t believe how similar our premiere is to the actual election!” Yet, besides the female candidate losing to the “comeback king,” literally how in the world was this similar to the real election? We already had a presidential assassination attempt back when this show was good, so Vargas getting shot didn’t even feel a little shocking because we had seen it play out much earlier (and much better) on this show already. Also, can someone confirm that Cyrus has never held political office and now he is president? What was the more unforgivable sin of the episode: that a previous chief of staff could waltz right into the White House, or that California of all states was a swing state? This show is ridiculous, but no longer in a good way.

Yep I agree with everything you said. It used to be ridiculous in a fun and entertaining way. Now it’s just bad.

Kerry’s back! Olivia was in top form! As far the supporting cast, why the hell hasn’t Bellamy’s peers recognized her with an emmy nomination??!

The show now has zero chance to win any emmys. The actors are still good but the material isn’t

I guess just like Mellie I’ll have to concede over the threads (even though I was first!). This was a great thrilling episode. Washington and Young were fantastic as ever.

    A-

A- really? I agree that the actors were on fire but the show as just gotten laughable ( and not in any entertaining way ). At least there is no more talk of B613 or whatever.

To me, being entertained is the most important part of how much I like an episode. I was very entertained by this episode and its campy, melodramatic writing is utterly a part of why I was. An easy A-.

Ridiculous is the word for this show. There’s no other way to describe it. It’s time to end it. Yes, it is entertaining, but how entertained can you be when all you can do is criticize and almost hate these writers every 5 minutes.

This whole Vargas asssasination was just a way to further the prescence of Cyrus on this show. He hasn’t been important, relevant or necessary for a long time, and now he has a purpose. Just let him go and let Mellie be president, why not? Because Hillary lost? who cares. I’m curious to see what ridiculous excuse they have for Fitz and Mellie to still be a part of this show. If he’s not President, where does he fit? If she lost, where does she go? Don’t tell me she becomes Vice President to Cyrus now. Of course we also have to wait for the dreaded moment when…wait for it…Papa Pope becomes Vice President because….why not? Or Jake, because that’s another character that NEEDS to continue on this show for no reason. And Chief of Staff? Well why not bring Portia De Rossi back who also lasted way too long here.

    Again…”Ridiculous”.

All of these episodes were filmed before the election, so Hillary has nothing to do with it.
