Emma Roberts & Jamie Lee Curtis To Star In Fox’s ‘Scream Queens’ Horror Series

Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis have been tapped for leading roles in Scream Queens, Fox’s comedy-horror series created by Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. The 15-episode first installment of the anthology series, slated for next fall, revolves around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders.

Both Roberts and Curtis have solid horror credentials — Roberts was in Scream 4 and most recently in Murphy and Falchuk’s American Horror Story on FX, with co-starring roles in the Coven and Freak Show installments. Because of her ties to Murphy and Falchuk via AHS, Roberts had been rumored to star in Scream Queens from the moment the straight-to-series project was announced. Curtis earned a Scream Queen moniker early in her career with her breakout starring turn in John Carpenter’s Halloween that led to a string of popular horror movies.

With the casting of Curtis, Murphy continues to lure to TV great but underutilized actresses of a certain age with meaty, showy roles, which he has done successfully on AHS with Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates.

Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan executive produce Scream Queens alongside fellow Glee exec producer Dante Di Loreto for 20th Century Fox TV.

I hope Ryan Murphy can do to Jamie Lee Curtis’s career as he has done to Jessica Lange. I am excited for this project just to see Jaime acting again.

Fantastic news. Time for Lea to get the Emmy she deserved for the first season of Glee.

I guess that means Naya Rivera will definitely not be coming along for the ride. :-/

This is how I felt throughout the casting announcements of this:

    Jamie Lee Curtis…

    Emma Roberts…

    Lea Michele…

    Ariana Grande…

Lea Michele better use her personality well and play a nasty character that we can love to hate. But my mind is boggled by Ariana Grande. That girl does not need a single second more exposure, especially not on a network show. Thankfully she is only a guest star, so maybe she’s the first kill. I am still excited to see Jamie Lee Curtis, and even Emma Roberts is alright.

Will definitely be checking this out. I guess Lea Michele and Ryan Murphy can’t get enough of each other.

Nick Jonas Joins Fox’s Scream Queens

By Rebecca Iannucci / January 26 2015, 5:54 PM PST

Nick Jonas has a right to be hellish, and he’s about to put it to good use.

The “Jealous” singer has joined the cast of Scream Queens, Fox’s upcoming horror-comedy from American Horror Story producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, the network announced Monday.

Details about Jonas’ recurring character aren’t currently available, but he joins a cast that already includes Glee darling Lea Michele, True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello and AHS vet Emma Roberts, to name a few.

Scream Queens‘ 15-episode first season, set to debut this fall, revolves around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders.

In addition to a starring role on Kingdom, DirecTV’s Mixed Martial Arts drama, Jonas’ recent TV credits include roles on Hawaii Five-0 and Smash.

The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news of Jonas’ casting.

Dear 24Emmy, would you mind changing the name of the thread maybe? 🙂
I’m intrigued by this show. I absolutely adore those late 90’s/early 00’s comedy horror movies that became cult classics (Scream, Scream 2, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and here’s hoping this show captures a bit of that magic. If so sign me in. The only reservation I have is part of the cast but I’m assuming Grande’s and Jonas’s characters are maybe destined to be killed?

    by Nellie Andreeva

    February 25, 2015 3:00pm

Mexican-born actor-singer Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages) has been cast as one of the male leads in Scream Queens, Fox’s comedy-horror series created by Glee creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Also cast as a regular in the first installment of the anthology series, slated for next fall, is Glen Powell (The Expendables 3). It revolves around a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders. Details on the characters are sketchy but Boneta is believed to be playing a popular guy who dates the hottest girls on campus. He and Powell join an ensemble cast that includes Lea Michele, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Skyler Samuels, Nick Jonas, Keke Palmer, Joe Manganiello, Ariana Grande and Abigail Breslin. 20th TV is the studios.

Boneta, repped by Gersh, Management 360 and attorney Gretchen Rush, will next be seen in CBS’s Mark Burnett and Roma Downey-produced miniseries The Dovekeepers and the Imagine feature Pelé.

Powell, repped by CAA, Untitled and attorney Greg Slewett, just wrapped the lead in Richard Linklater’s That’s What I’m Talking About.  He will next be seen in Ride Along 2.
