Which of these shows is superior to the others? You can rank then 1-4. 1 being the best. Give me great reasons behind your answers.August 5, 2015 at 9:50 am #356999
Friends is the best by far. NEXT. Frasier, Seinfeld then NewsRadio (never even heard of that) follow in that order.August 5, 2015 at 9:54 am #357000

They were all great though, I had a great time watching those shows back when they aired and all of them are in reruns here and they’re still great. Of course Newsradio is the lesser show here, but it still had a lot of nice moments.August 5, 2015 at 10:11 am #357002

Seinfeld is the best, followed by Frasier. Both shows rely on a more intelligent type of humor, be it everyday situations or farses, without compromising characterization and forming complex characters abd situations. Frasier started to lose quality after season 5 and it became ordinary after season 7, so I put Seinfeld higher because of the full body of work, but for me, these two, along with 30 Rock in a close third place, are miles away from any other show out there. They are giants of comedy, to me.
I wouldn’t dare to put Friends in the ranking cause I consider many other comedies to be so much better than it. Friends is an overrated show with lazy, frat boy type of writing and that shows no sense of character development or progression. Its a enjoyable show to catch on randomly, but to put it on a pedestal as The Best Show Ever makes me angry because of how flawed it is. Also, its humour (specially post season-5) isn’t all that different from shows like TBBT nowadays, but people seem to have double standarts when it comes to Friends.August 5, 2015 at 10:30 am #357004
Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier, NewsRadioAugust 5, 2015 at 10:51 am #357005
Seinfeld is my favourite show of all time. The writing is unparalleled.
Frasier is amazing too. I might rather watch Newsradio on a given day, but I can’t deny that Frasier is better-plotted and overall stronger.
Newsradio is hilarious, one of the best workplace sitcoms.
Friends is an above average relationship sitcom that is only really in the conversation because of its popularity, not quality.August 5, 2015 at 10:55 am #357006
All great shows.
Seinfeld is just such a well-structured show, and its episodes are packed with great conepts that remain entertaining to watch today. And Jason Alexander’s George might be the greatest sitcom character in television.
Frasier is, as often mentioned, one of the most finely-crafted farces. While it faltered a bit in its later years, its best episodes are packed with wry wordplay and glorious physical gags.
Newsradio is a smaller show, sure, but it was often zany in the best of ways. Paul Simms and the creative team really were big on subverting network notes as much as they could, right from episode 2 when they threw will-they-won’t-they tension out the window and had their main love interests get together. It was just weird, and lovely for it.
And then Friends, which I greatly enjoy, if not as much as I used to. It is one of the biggest examples of a show broadening its characters and plotting the more it went along, and often for the worse. That said, its cast members had some incredible chemistry and the show’s directors knew how to block some very fun (and occasionally, very emotional) scenes.August 5, 2015 at 10:57 am #357007

Why are we comparing them?
None of these shows crack my top ten TV comedies ever, though Seinfeld is close. Seasons 6-10 of Friends is about as basic as sitcoms get. But its 2-5 seasons are still pretty strong. It’s more a case of finding the perfect cast than it is about wit or ambition. Newsroom was never great, but it was a solid enough workplace comedy. Frasier, while frequently clever, was also pretty annoying, redundant and overly mannered.August 5, 2015 at 12:20 pm #357011
1-2. I admit that Seinfeld is much smarter and original, but Friends will always be my favorite comedy ever, cause I grew up watching it and there´s a special place in my heart for that show.
3. I don´t like Fraisier.
4. Pardo my ignorance, but what the hell is news radio…August 5, 2015 at 12:25 pm #357012
Although, to be perfectly honest i’d rank Will & Grace higher than all of them. And on a good day even 3rd rock from the sun would get a higher ranking from me than Seinfeld would.
