Next season, ABC Thursday’s line-up is going to be made up entirely of series produced by Shonrda Rhimes… I’m wondering is this a first? has there ever been another time in TV history when one producers series took up an entire night of programming on one network?

I can’t imagine this is a first? I feel like maybe Norma Lear, Aaron Spelling or Chuck Lorre must have achieved this feat decades ago… can anybody clue me in, has this ever happened before?

Maybe Seth McFarlane when The Cleveland Show was on? Along with American Dad and Family Guy.

The last time this happened (3 hours of programming) was the 1982-1983 season, all produced by Aaron Spelling:

    Saturday
    8:00pm – T.J. Hooker
    9:00pm – The Love Boat
    10:00pm – Fantasy Island

2 hour blocks are much more common.

Actually the last time this happened was in 2012.

When Shondra Rhimes had 3 shows on ABC Thursday Nights:   Greys Anatomy, Private Practice and Off the Map

Never happened.   I believe OTM aired in the summer when both Grey’s or Private were on-hiatus or in reruns, so originals never aired together.

I have always thought this.  Too
much is made of this woman. That does not mean she should
not be recognized for her work. But I have found there are some
who trip over themselves about her and diversity. I am all for diversity, I
like to see color on television. We have come a long way, but still have a ways
to go. But to heap praise upon this woman as though she gave you a kidney is
creepy. What people need to keep in mind is that most people in show business
are white just like this country. Therefore most people on television will
reflect that. Speaking of reflecting real life. There are a plenty of Asian and
Indian Doctors in this country, yet you don’t see a lot of them on television.
When casting whether it is original, guest star or smaller role the
producers can say I want to see everybody regardless of race. That needs
to happen more. There are other shows on television with diverse casts, but you
don’t hear about them or their creators.
Shonda Rhimes gets more attention than most because she is a woman and
Black. I defy anyone to tell me that is not true.  Again making too much of this one woman. What
about Norman Lear?  Speaking of diversity.

I said this last year and I will say
it again the only reason Kerry Washington was nominated for Emmy, Sag and
Golden Globe and Emmy this year is because she is Black and because of
television history. I will add I believe the award organizations felt obliged
to nominate her, felt it was the right thing to do. No one is entitled to
a nomination let alone a win because someone of their race has not been
nominated in forever.  It is arrogant and
presumptuous to think otherwise.  I wrote my opinion or diatribe if
you will on the forum about the Drama Actress category being up for grabs. I am
still holding a grudge two years in a row because of Tatiana Maslany being
snubbed. The fact that Kerry Washington was nominated over Tatiana Maslany, Vera
Farmiga and Keri Russell makes my point and smells like politics and BS to
    me.

    1.    In 2005 when
Grey’s Anatomy debuted the original cast was six White cast members, one Asian
cast members and three Black cast members.

    2.    In 2007 when
Private Practice debuted the original cast was six White cast members and two
    Black cast members.

    3.    In 2012 when
Scandal debuted the original cast was six White cast members, one Latin cast
member and two Black cast members. Now there is only one original Black cast
    member left.
