Which shows have Emmy nominations for stars clearly in the wrong category?
Who is nominated in lead but clearly supporting?
Who is nominated in supporting but clearly lead?

I would say  Modern Family is one. Ed O’Neill is clearly the lead.

Maybe Peter Dinklage should be lead?

Wtf seriously?  He has what, like eight minutes of screen time at most in any given episode?  This is not even like Matthew Fox in Lost where most episodes, he would be supporting, but come back to lead every once in a while.  Ed O’Neill’s significance is always negligibly different from that of Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, etc.  Given his name status and that he is the patriarch, he might have the most justification if he were to submit in lead out of anyone in the cast, but he is far from being “clearly the lead.”

Joan Cusack is supporting on Shameless, not a guest actress.

No way should Dinklage be in lead. He had more screentime than his castmates, but still not enough to compare to people like Cranston, Hamm etc. And coming from someone who has read the books, his “lead” status is a one-time thing. GoT is still an ensemble show. Dinklage belongs in Supporting.

Elisabeth Moss, “Mad Men”. The only season when she was truly lead was 4th. Other than that it’s borderline case but still more supporting. Similar to Robert Morse who was also supporting but is allowed to submit in guest. After all what to do with the fact that Jared Harris, nominated in supporting, was in 7 episodes while Ben Feldman, nominated in guest, and Robert Morse, who submitted in guest, were both in 9 episodes?

“Dexter” stars of the seasons – Jimmy Smits, John Lithgow and Julia Stiles – submitted in guest, as it should be easier, but all belonged in supporting. Lithgow would have won that year in supporting too.

Kathryn Joosten was never supporting on “Desperate Housewives”. She was recurring. That way Loretta Devine could be supporting for “Grey’s Anatomy” too.

Well, American Horror Story itself is in the wrong category… so is Web Therapy which should be eligible in the Comedy Series race.

Matthew Morrison would have been more of a Supporting Actor than a Lead Actor last year.

Ed O’Neil is NOT the lead on Modern Family!  If anything, Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen are the leads. But it is clearly a true ensemble with no protagonist.

Just because O’Neil is the oldest and the patriarch, doesn’t make him the lead, lol. He is in the right category.

Shameless should be competing in the Comedy categories anyways.

Rose Byrne is not really a supporting actress on “Damages”.

Matthew Perry was not a lead on “Friends” when he was nominated in 2002.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s a lot funnier than those so-called Showtime dramedy series. Unfortunately, once it’s nominated in drama, there’s no turning back.

Why is Web Therapy ineligible in the Comedy categories? Where is it campaigned? I enjoyed season one, but I LOVED season two!! Lisa Kudrow is a comedic God.

Web Therapy doesn’t air in primetime.
