This news about Showtime’s new limited series “Purity” is interesting. It sounds like a 20-episode self-contained story, but it’ll be split into two parts over two years — which is kinda like two seasons of a continuing drama series. Where will the Emmys end up putting this?

It should be put in drama series. It’s not even that short when you consider that seasons of ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Breaking Bad’ were nominated with seven and eight episodes, respectively.

‘Mad Men’ reaped two drama series nominations with 14 episodes. There’s no reason a show with twenty episodes, broadcast over two TV seasons, should be considered a miniseries.

I love the book, so I’m definitely curious. Is this the first Franzen tv adaptation?
