Hello everyone!   I have’t found a thread about the show. If there is one already I apologize.

I think with the Emmys imminent, maybe the new shows have been lost topic-wise.

I just watched Sleepy Hollow today on DVR.  I have to say, I loved it! (hence me starting the thread haha)

I admit I am unfarmiliar with the original material so I do not know the changes between the show and the story / other adaptations .

I loved the story. The time differences is so great. Production impressive.

I’m kinda a sucker for this type of story, with the end times, four horseman, deamons thing. And I was very happy that they seemed to show a preview of the season after the show, not just a “on the next…”  Its so intriguing and has got me hooked already.

Rating we quite good as well, here’s an article on it.

So, anyone else thinking the show was pretty awesome?  Or did you hate it?

I thought it was pretty fantastic and I can’t wait for more episodes of it, I was almost making a thread already but since I already did the one for Dads and Brookylin 99 I couldn’t take this one too, great stuff, gonna definetely keep watching it.

I didn’t like it at all and don’t feel the need to ever watch it again unless it becomes this fantastic success that tells me hey there might be something here you didn’t see on the Pilot.

I thought it was generic as hell, the same type of classic story turned high concept tv show that comes out every single season and underwhelms like…every other high concept tv show…you get the point. It also seems like it will go the procedural way which seems boring and easy right away, like Grimm. I don’t see how this will sustain itself for multiple seasons.

The casting was also very off, Orlando Jones was terrible and the character a total bore and a cliche. I’m asuming Jhon Cho’s character is dead, which is a good thing, this is not what I would wish on an actor like him. He was already on the awful Flashforward and now this. He’s much better off doing a comedy.

The two leads are good, the girl was pretty great, but that’s about the only good things I can say besides the obviously amazing production.

Again, these type of shows have been so abundant lately that they need to wow me right away or else I just get bored and don’t get past the Pilot (Once Upon a Time, Grimm and the Lost wannabes). And this season is weirdly high on these concept shows with that Mary Queen of Scots show, The Originals and some others.

It was pretty trashy and dumb, but in an entertaining guilty-pleasure way. I might stick with it for a while.

I enjoyed it until the last 10 minutes, where they seemed to be giving too much away too fast, and it started seeming more generic than I’d hoped.  Even so, I will keep watching for awhile because I do like this type of show.  Oh, and I just read that John Noble has been cast in the show, and since I adored him on Fringe (he was robbed for awards noms all those years!) I look forward to seeing him again.

I’m a fan of this series. With each subsequent episode since the pilot, it keeps getting better, including the character development and interactions, the performances, and the mythology. The show is silly, for sure, but it’s highly enjoyable. Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie have great chemistry, and the show has somehow been able to consistently balance it’s tricky tone of horror/drama/comedy. I’m glad this got a second season pickup, it’s one of the season’s best surprises.

Since this delivered in the ratings, the second season will have fifteen to eighteen episodes.

I must say, I got to episode 7, but it is hard to keep watching and John Noble didn’t delivered what I expect, at least until the 7th episode, can’t say I’ll have the guts to finish the season.

Wow they’ve made a television show/series based on the film?

Wow they’ve made a television show/series based on the film?

    LOL!
No.  And it isn’t based on the novella, either.  It basically just
takes the concept of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman and then
does a million insane things with it.

And Denis, the writers have a big twist with John Noble’s character in the season finale.

    Personally,
I LOVED this show. It fulfilled my “batshit crazy” quota for television
after “American Horror Story” got really bad this season.  I was
absolutely delighted by how insane Sleepy Hollow is. I think the casting
is utterly fantastic. And the writing is way, way better than I was
expecting.  I am greatly looking forward to it coming back next season.

    At
first I thought, “Oh no. With 15-18 episodes the pace will drag and
they’ll have to write filler”.  And then I remembered the INSANE pacing
of season 1, and how often I was wishing they would actually explore
concepts instead of churning through everything as if the world was
    literally ending tomorrow.

Hey Lady, I agree with you 100%! I literally expected nothing from this, and it ended up becoming one of my favorites of the season. The cast is terrific, and I am looking forward to season 2, especially after that doozy of a cliff hanger.
