Who has those big Jeff Daniels style sppeches Emmy voters love.  Certainly Julia Roberts in Normal Heart. Joe Mantello too. (could he upset Bomer? Bomer’s kind of the heart of the film though so I guess I’ll stick with predicting him.)

     Any other big speechy moments?

Peter Dinklage has a big speech in the final scene of “The Laws of Gods and Men” for Game of Thrones.

Please….can anybody beat the annoying Mr Pope? Joe Morton, is that the name of the guy who plays Olivia’s dad on Scandal? He’s a speech factory and the clear winner this year.

Lol I know right!? He ALWAYS.SPEAKS.LIKE.THIS. Hands down winner for the most unnecessary “speechfying” dialogue delivery.

Does Bryan Cranston on Breaking Bad count as a speech? That phone call scene in “Ozymandias” was an astounding monologue. I think that episode is getting him another win

Yeah that scene is powerful. Peter Dinklage’s speech I don’t think is considered a ”big” speech. A big speech is like the 10 minute speech of Jeff Daniels in that Pilot. Big Speeches are like James Spader’s at the end of the episodes. Peter Dinklage has a small speech in my opinion. 3 minutes is not that long. Aaron Paul also has a small speech (Confessions) in the desert with Walt which is 2 minutes long, not a huge difference compairing to Dinklage’s. And he ends the speech with a breakdown in Walt arms. Plus the other powerful scenes. Aaron Paul is really gonna pull it off, but I won’t count out Dinklage.

Someone already said it but people shouldn’t discount Joe Morton. He has some grand speeches and could pull an upset.

This might not qualify, but Matthew McConaughey does a good deal of monologuing in most of his tapes. That could be very impressive to voters not expecting that from him or his character.

In “The Newsroom,” Jane Fonda has a great one in the final scene of “Red Team III.”
