What are some of your favorite episode submissions (win or lose) that contain substance/alcohol abuse?

Jim Parsons won with a couple of episodes that fit what you’re looking for. Tony Shalhoub once, too.

Drunk Sheldon! I think Aaron Paul won his third while Jesse was either drunk or high when he realized what Walt did to that little boy.

Sharon Gless’ submission of “Turn, Turn, Turn” in 1987 for Lead Actress Drama – Cagney & Lacey.

Kirstie Alley won Lead Actress in a Comedy in 1991 for her submission of “The Days of Wine and Neuroses” from Cheers.

I know it was never nominated for any major Emmy’s, but I’m certain it was probably submitted, but “Party of Five” had an episode called “Intervention” that featured the Salinger family holding an intervention for Bailey. The episode was well written, well acted and garnered a lot of acclaim at the time. Unfortunately, it seemed that PO5 was never on the Emmy radar, even after a surprise Golden Globe win.

I wouldn’t call Parsons drunk episodes abuse.
