Here is a story we broke today regarding the Fox Studios Emmy campaign this year for “Glee,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Modern Family,” “New Girl,” “Raising Hope” and several other shows.May 16, 2012 at 7:38 am #244217
Thanks, Boomer, as always!
In the comedy categories, I am glad to (finally) see Shum and Ushkowitz campaigned for Glee, but where did Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet go? And I’m also glad that Gould, Hyland, and Rodriguez are being campaigned this time around, but where is Ariel Winter? Most surprising to me is no Lamorne Morris for New Girl and I’m hoping that New Girl guest stars like Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Jeanne Tripplehorn submit themselves, along with Shirley Jones and Fred Willard from Raising Hope and Benjamin Bratt and Bobby Cannavale from Modern Family.
In the drama categories, no Cherry Jones (again, maybe she’ll never submit again), Laura Allen, Steve Harris, or Wilmer Valderrama (save the drama) from Awake, no Geoff Stults from The Finder, and no Danny Glover from Touch are the only surprises I can see.May 16, 2012 at 8:27 am #244218
Dillahunt’s chances were very small anyway, but now that he’s in lead a nomination is sadly not going to happen.
I wouldn’t mind if both Ellen Barkin and Leslie Mann got nominated in Comedy guest actress. Hopefully no Glee guest stars this year.May 16, 2012 at 12:23 pm #244219
I have mixed feelings about this move for Dillahunt.May 16, 2012 at 12:45 pm #244220
No campaign for Lamorne Morris? What the frick?!? He had at least two excellent tapes that I can think of that he could’ve used. He started out as more of the straight man to a fault, but by about the midway point Winston became a real character and Morris had some great material that he delivered hilariously.
As an example, here’s Winston’s hilarious rant from the episode “Secrets” (it’s crappy quality, but a good reminder of how funny he was this season)
And for the heck of it, there’s these scenes as well from the episode where Winston first finds out about Cece and Schmidt:May 16, 2012 at 2:30 pm #244221
I have mixed feelings about this move for Dillahunt.
I agree. I would love if he could score a nomination. And I think he may have a shot in Lead with Carrell leaving and Gilecki less likely to return.
And David is probably right on the cusp.
I see two open spots – perfect for McHale and Dillahunt to sneak. Wishful thinking, sure. Deserving, though.May 16, 2012 at 2:33 pm #244222
Out of curiosity, which studio will campaign for ‘Happy Endings’ since it’s not ABC?
Sidenote… no Heather Morris… interesting.May 16, 2012 at 7:42 pm #244223
PS: the full title of the James Van Der Beek show is “Dont Trust The B In Apt. 23”. not just “Don’t Trust”.May 16, 2012 at 8:50 pm #244224
Dillahunt is as much a lead on “Raising Hope” as Martha Plimpton, but both could also be argued as supporting, so it’s not so surprising…… If anything, it lessens Lucas Neff’s extremely slim chance even more… And he is the one and only TRUE lead of the show, and deserving of a nomination….. so that’s a bit of a bummer.May 18, 2012 at 9:21 am #244225
No Bobby Cannavale or Philip Baker Hall for “Modern Family”? That’s surprising. I guess I’ll keep Greg Kinnear in my predictions for now.
It’s nice to see Mike O’Malley back in guest actor, but he has nothing to submit this year to make him competitive.
I guess the gesture could have been made for Lamorne Morris along with his co-stars. But he doesn’t deserve a nomination for being the blah fifth wheel for most of the season, so I’m okay with that snub.
I don’t think going lead will do Garret Dillahunt any favors.May 18, 2012 at 9:35 am #244226
Suprised to see FOX didnt submit Whoopi Goldberg for Guest Actress for GleeMay 18, 2012 at 9:40 am #244227
The only “interesting” thing about some of these not submitted people is that we’re discussing them. The Modern Family kids that are not Nolan Gould and all the Glee kids except the usual suspects should donate that submission fee, they were never ever going to get in.
It might be weird that some get submitted and others don’t, but even more so that they all get submitted or thought about at all. What a ridiculous waste of money.
I agree that Garrett Dillahunt had no business going to Lead, that shows fits the Malcom in the Middle model of submissions perfectly. Mother and son to lead, father to supporting. Virginia is more of a driving force for everything bad, weird and awesome that happens on this show.
And Lamorne Morris might have had a few good episodes, but it’s been shown over and over again how useless Winston can be.May 18, 2012 at 10:50 am #244228
What about House??? Are they really not campaigning for the show’s final season?May 18, 2012 at 2:20 pm #244229
House is produced by Universal and campagined by that studio.
