I feel like Nicole Kidman’s getting an individual drama nod.

I’d say she at least more likely than Lange.

I’m hoping Aisha Hinds gets nominated. I think she can. She got raves from critics, TCA loves to give crazy nominations, and Underground was on the radar with a new program nomination last year.

Aya Cash won’t be nominated. You’re the Worst S3 has been ignored by critics. And if it has been watched by enough people, they’d know that Aya Cash was overshadowed by Chris Geere this season.

I’m actually considering predicting The Americans to be snubbed. I’ve heard a ton of critics complaining about this season. I don’t think it can win again. TCA’s love snubbing the incumbent winners so I wouldn’t be shocked. Maybe I change my mind if the response gets better for the final episodes.

Should someone tell Emma Watson that these awards have had gender neutral acting categories since like 1996?

Sorry, I did not look at what thread I was bumping. I first posted the following in the 2016 thread:

Disclaimed that that the season is not over, but seeing exchanges like this, it seems that the critics have softened on The Americans over the last seven episodes. And with Fargo in the eighties on Metacritic and critics being more mixed than usual on the episode that has aired since, it is looking like The Leftovers and The Handmaid’s Tale will be the critics’ pushes this season when it comes to hour-longs.

Agreed on your take, though, Riley. That Feinberg tweet is very telling. I wonder if inertia is enough for it to keep its Emmy slot or will the tepid support of the critics sink it there too.

(I deleted my original post, if you want to do the same.)

I have a question…what goes into nominating the heritage award? It seems kind of random. Historically, some shows have been nominated whilst still on the air, other have long been off-air. Twin Peaks had two seasons yet has been nominated for the Heritage Award the past 7 years. Cheers was on for 11 years and was only nominated once, in 2012 – when it won.

It is so random. Sometimes it corresponds to topicality, like Friends was nominated when it was added to Netflix or Star Trek when the movie came out. They used to nominate/award shows as they went off the air, but they have mostly stopped doing that. What we do know is that TCA members do a lot of colluding to push things through.

I’m confused. Dont critics love Halt and Catch Fire? I hear them talking About it all of the time but its never gotten any significant nominations from critics. Does it have a chance at TCAs.
