    Why are people so surprised a critically acclaimed show did so well with a critics award group?

    Which show do you mean?

    It’s surprising American Crime didn’t get in, it’s acclaim was probably higher than most of the other miniseries this year, especially like GG and Wizard of Lies. They didn’t nominate the first two seasons though so I don’t think it means anything come emmy time

    @pulp50

    I think it’s surprising because, while it was well regarded, I wouldn’t exactly call it a critical favorite – at least not until the tailend of the season, by which point it had pretty much lost all buzz. It’s a good choice, though, so I’m not mad at it.

    All the TCA nominees for Drama Series are my predictions for Drama Series at the Emmys, plus I have Westworld getting in as the 7th nominee.

    Also, how the heck did The Leftovers get nominated for Program of the Year but not Drama Series?!

    And where the hell is Millie Bobby Brown for Individual Achievement in Drama?

    Of course they nominated both Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon. Of fucking course. Other than that, I’m very surprised Westworld didn’t get anything. Rip Thandie Newton.

    Since the last few Emmy Drama winners got nominations for both Program of the Year and Outstanding Achievement in Drama, we have Stranger Things vs. The Handmaid’s Tale.

    Do people really still expect any other winner than Stranger  Things?

    I personally hope for Better Call Saul. It’s more denial, as the show is not much more than good.

    Nominations across the board from Orange is the New Black, Better Call Saul, and Silicon Valley

    After PGA and SAG Ensemble wins, Stranger Things winning the Emmy for Drama Series is one of the biggest locks of the night.

    I don’t think MBB deserved a TCA nomination either, but I just assumed she would get in on the popularity of the show and her breakout character “Eleven” alone. The good news, is that because both MBB and Thandie Newton were snubbed, this does nothing to hurt or help either of their chances. Both have already received SAG, Globe, and CC nods, with Newton actually winning the latter.

    Critical reception only got better as the show went on.

    With the shocking Leftovers, Rectify, and Westworld snubs, Stranger Things should be winning pretty easily. Better Call saul lost Odenkirk. The Americans has had a divisive season. A lit of people like This is Us enough to nominate, but is it any critics favorite? This brings us down to The handmaids Tale, The Crown, and Stranger Things. Stranger Things has the most hype and momentum so I think that’ll push it to a win.
