It’s better to start this thread LATE than NOT AT ALL.  Nominations will be announced tomorrow morning.  Until then, Blind Items…

The 14th Annual Bryan Awards – Nominations Blind Items

On Sunday, I posted four blind items to the Bryan Awards Facebook page, pertaining to Thursday’s Bryan Award nominations.

    They are:
Blind Item # 1 – Tied for the most-nominated Comedy are a show that was cancelled after one season, plus a perennial favorite.

    Blind
Item # 2: Tied for the most-nominated drama are a provocative new
series, plus a popular show that ended after a multi-season run.

    Blind
Item # 3: A producer, who has won before at the Bryan Awards, nominated
multiple times for at least three shows, will be back again with
    multiple longform nominees.

    Blind
Item # 4: The network with the most New Series nominees is still
looking for its first win in that category (1), while one New Series
nominee will make history (2), and (3) one of the New Series nominees
    was cancelled.

Blind Item # 5: Three New Series nominees have a combined 53 nominations this year, and neither is up for Best Comedy or Drama.  The two leading stars of one of those shows have three nominations each for their work on their respective show, including in the New Series race.

Again, the nominations will be announced on Thursday morning at 8:30.

I never heard of these awards. At first, I thought this was some fake award ceremony where Bryan Cranston or Bryan Adams gets every award.

Here is the nomination announcement.  Benjamin Franklin & Thomas Jefferson were the presenters, in honor of the Fourth of July.

Here is the complete list of nominees
.  I also have PDF and Word Doc format, but I have to work with the confines of Blogger.

The Crazy Ones is tied with Modern Family with 18 nominations.  Both are the most-nominated laffers.

    Blind
Item # 2: Tied for the most-nominated drama are a provocative new
series, plus a popular show that ended after a multi-season run.

Masters of Sex and Breaking Bad are tied with 19 nominations, making them the most-nominated primetime shows.  Sex was snubbed for Drama Series, however.

    Blind
Item # 3: A producer, who has won before at the Bryan Awards, nominated
multiple times for at least three shows, will be back again with
    multiple longform nominees.

Ryan Murphy has TWO of the six Miniseries/Movie nominees – AHS: Coven and The Normal Heart, and is also nominated for directing the latter.  AHS (Season 1) & AHS: Asylum are past nominees.  Murphy won a boatload of Bryan Awards four years ago for “Glee”, and was nominated in 2004 for Best New Series for “Nip/Tuck”.

    Blind
Item # 4: The network with the most New Series nominees is still
looking for its first win in that category (1), while one New Series
nominee will make history (2), and (3) one of the New Series nominees
    was cancelled.

Part 1: CBS, which in 13 years is 0-9 (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Survivor, CSI: Miami, Joan of Arcadia, The Mentalist, The Good Wife, Hawaii Five-O, 2 Broke Girls, and Elementary) in this category, has three nominees, “Mom”, “Under the Dome”, and (see Part 3).  CBS has multiple New Series nominees for the first time since the inaugural Bryan Awards in 2001 (CSI & Survivor), and this is the sixth consecutive year that CBS is represented in this race.

Part 2: “Orange Is The New Black” is the first online show to be a New Series nominee.

Part 3: The Crazy Ones is only the third cancelled series to be a New Series nominee, following “The Job” (2001) and “Number One Ladies Detective Agency” (2009).

Blind Item # 5: Three New Series nominees have a combined 53 nominations this year, and neither is up for Best Comedy or Drama.  The two leading stars of one of those shows have three nominations each for their work on their respective show, including in the New Series race.

Masters of Sex (19) + The Crazy Ones (18) + True Detective (16) = 53; Those are three of the five most-nominated new shows.  Both Orange Is The New Black (16) and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (15) are duking it out for Best Comedy.  (Part 2) Woody Harrelson & Matthew McConaughey have THREE nominations each – Lead Actor (New Series), Lead Actor (Drama Series), and both are nominated together in New Series as producers of True Detective.

Technical Categories will be announced on August 2.
First 17 categories on August 4.

Final 17 categories on August 11.

Again, the nominations will be announced on Thursday morning at 8:30.

Here is the Winner’s Tally (as of Saturday).

Here is the first half of the ceremony.  This is the fourth year in a row that I have broadcast the Awards.  Even Goldderby gets a shout out (about 7:45 in).  Second half will be posted next week.
