    Go The Americans.

I have The Americans on sixth. I do think we underestimate Boardwalk Empire, and I do think House of Cards is a strong contender, and this category is a mess to predict this year, but The Americans just has so much momentum and fills so many qualities Emmy voters look for in this category, that I’m predicting it.

Series, Actor, Actress, Writing, Guest Actress, Casting, Main Title Design and the most important category to secure a win in the main category: HAIRSTYLING.

Part of me wants to predict Mad Men for nothing but Series and Hairstyling, but it’s not gonna happen.

I have The Americans as seventh if there are seven.  No Boardwalk, though.

With the exceptions of Kevin Spacey and Anna Gunn, there’s a good chance the ones I’m rooting for most won’t even be nominated. They are..

    Hugh Dancy
    Michael C. Hall
    Matthew Rhys
    Kevin Spacey

    Glenn Close
    Vera Farmiga
    Tatiana Maslany
    Keri Russell

    Jonathan Banks
    Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
    Mads Mikkelsen
    Corey Stoll

    Rose Byrne
    Jennifer Carpenter
    Michelle Fairley
    Anna Gunn

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if both categories had seven nominees, like in 2009.

I only have The Americans in eighth position for casting.  What are your five?

I am surprised no one else has metioned him, but shouldn’t we be giving
some consideration to Michael C. Hall from Dexter?  I am pretty sure no
one predicted him last year and he managed to get nominated in a once
again crowded field last year.  I almost wonder if he is one of those
actors, kind of like Mariska Hargitay or currently Jon Creyer, who the
academy just seems to love.  And like the two of them, I wonder if I am
better off to keep predicting him until the academy does not nominate
him. From what I have heard, Dexter by far had their best season
since season 4 last year.  They actually had some decent buzz.  I have
also heard some good things about this recent final season of theirs as
well.  It sounded like Jennifer Carpenter was the standout from season
7, but at the end of the day the show is still called Dexter and
revolves around him.  So of all their actors it would make sense he
would be the most likely to be nominated, regardless of how the season
    played out.

Michael C. Hall would look like a lazy nominee, but would actually be a deserving one.  I know that I would vote for him ahead of Kevin Spacey and Matthew Rhys, for example.  I maintained that he would keep the nomination (over Buscemi and Bonneville) up until The Americans surged in buzz with all of those critic nominations and that Emmy Magazine cover, at which point I replaced him with Rhys.

Last year the only locks were Dinklage, Esposito, and Paul. Harris
replaced Slattery, and the Downton guys surprised everyone (how only 2
people on the site managed to predict them was astounding).

Slattery was also locked last year.

I want to say that this’s my first year to follow the Emmys. I am very glad I found this forum because I really enjoying the discussions here and I’ve been learning a lot from you guys. But I am a little bit tired of making predictions now I am just dying to know the results…

Let’s make a shocking Chandra Wilson nomination. I just watched Grey’s Anatomy S09E21, it’s an Emmy-winning tape for her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-lsGaem2cY

It’s been four years that she’s missing, did it ever happened that someone was nominated for 5 times then ignored for a while and still came back in the end?

Kerry Washington is at number 3 in the predictions, so is she a safe bet now? I’m somehow stunned by how many people are predicting her, I hope you are all right about her.

Something equivalent to 25 dollars in our currency  lol

But I did the bet mostly because he was very very skeptical of her chances and he was very bias for Farmiga, but if both Washington and Farmiga get in, none of us wins the bet lol

That’s a very risky bet for him.
