Don’t get the need of a whole title sequence without credits, seems like wasted time no matter how good they are. So I’m out on Narcos and Jessica Jones.

    Ranking the rest:
    1. The Night Manager
    2. Vynil
    3. The Man in the High Castle
    4. Jessica Jones
    5. Narcos

I have no clue about who wins this, seems like none of them are that important, The Night Manager is the best for me, it got the best nominations too, the most acclaim also, so maybe they get it. Vynil seems like a safe bet too.

    Vynil or The Night Manager.

Couldn’t even finish The Man in the High Castle intro.

It is surprising they didn’t nominate AHS this year. It would’ve been a slam dunk imo.

Holy, what a weak class. I just got put to sleep five times in five minutes.

They awarded Manhattan over American Horror Story and Olive Kitteridge last year, so this branch actually is reviewing the nominees instead of just voting for the most popular show. The motion and title design branch is the smallest in the academy, at under two hundred members. This means that a higher percentage of them were serving on the panels back in the day and they probably have all served on the panel at some point, since it only takes five minutes to review the nominees.

Vinyl at least had some life in it, but that series has a real stink to it and I regrettably removed it from my nomination predictions close to the day on account of that. And I feel like the voters in this branch are suckers for animation.

How is The Man in the High Castle here over American Horror Story and The Leftovers?

I have seen those titles for The Night Manager a dozen times before and I have seen them better, but they could win.

Do the Narcos “Opening Credits” really not have credits?

Jessica Jones too? But that one has animation, so this is an “easy win” (quotation marks because there is no consensus in this thread).

This is a very weak category. First of all, American Horror Story should have been nominated in place of any of these. But we’ve got what we’ve got.

The Man in the High Castle – I sort of liked it. Reminds me of The Americans’ title design. But The Americans’ wasn’t so lifeless and had better music.

Jessica Jones – It’s a good idea, but again, incredibly boring. The animation is good, however.

Narcos – It had potential, but it’s definitely too long, like all the others.

The Night Manager – Best of the bunch.

Vinyl – Good beginning, but it’s quite sloppy in the end.

    Final ranking:
    1. The Night Manager
    2. Jessica Jones
    3. The Man in the High Castle
    4. Narcos
    5. Vinyl

Hopefully Narcos pulls this one out, though looks open to many possible winners.

Just watched the Narcos pilot and the main titles did indeed have credits over top of them (and they looked a lot better in context). As Jessica Jones is also Netflix, I am assuming that they normally have text as well.
