Fair enough. I may be too emotionally invested at this point.
On a side note, when did the academy stop requiring voters to sign the affidavit?May 14, 2018 at 10:24 pm #1202547245
They still sign it so to speak, i.e. check the box online.May 14, 2018 at 10:40 pm #1202547253
Does it still say the same thing as the previous one about watching the episodes and what not?May 15, 2018 at 12:20 am #1202547287
So Riley, would you define ep 8 and 9 a step back in comparison to the previous three? Is it just Stan’s research not completely working or are the whole episodes weaker?May 15, 2018 at 12:25 am #1202547288
I think it’d be interesting if Stan were close to find them out but never actually find the truth. I think it’d a very intelligent way to frustrate the viewers’ expectations and surprise them.May 15, 2018 at 4:21 pm #1202547714
#8 is a step down, but #9 is good.
My understanding is that it still says the same thing, but everything is online now, everyone is voting as opposed to panels, everyone is encouraged to vote and everyone has access to all categories from their branch. It is just another box to click as they are click-click-clicking through a long online ballot.May 16, 2018 at 5:16 pm #1202548433
Can’t wait to binge this tomorrow! Expect it to zoom to the top of my personal drama list.May 17, 2018 at 11:05 am #1202549089
Last night’s episode was great and furthered the plot towards the finale. Stan straight-up thinks his neighbors are spies now… comparing their photos to sketches. Yikes! The opening scene with Phillip and Elizabeth fighting was brilliant. Keri Russell is COMING for that Emmy! She wants it and has been delivering a delicious performance all season. I loved that Phillip got through to her about questioning her missions. Can’t wait to see where all this goes in the final two episodes! So sad!!!
Back to Keri Russell… I think she’s made herself competitive for the Emmy in Lead Actress in a Drama Series (despite the category being SUPER competitive). Her biggest competition is the defending champ Elisabeth Moss. However, if The Handmaids Tale wins in Drama Series again this year, Moss would earn another Emmy, so might voters want to award another actress this year??? The Crown fans are championing Claire Foy to win on her final try, but I don’t really see that happening. If they passed her over last year, they will again this year (plus she couldn’t even win at the BAFTAs). Some people are also saying Mandy Moore’s got a shot, but I think if she’s able to score a nomination, that will be her reward. Keri’s been in the business for a hot minute. This is her second successful television series and this would be the perfect opportunity to give The Americans a major Emmy for its final season and as a way of awarding the series for its entirety.
Past “goodbye hugs” from the Emmys for a series’s final season include:
Kyle Chandler & Writing for Friday Night Lights
Sarah Jessica Parker & Cynthia Nixon for Sex & The City
Jon Hamm for Mad Men
Will the Emmys let The Americans go off the air without a major Emmy win?May 17, 2018 at 11:22 am #1202549104
The only thing I disliked about this episode was Elizabeth and Claudia’s convo. It was a good scene. But I don’t like that that’s the way Elizabeth finds out the Russians are full of it. However, I’m not expecting her to completely turn on the KGB.
It’s weird how I went from being indifferent to Elizabeth and to Russell’s performance to worshiping at E.Jenning’s altar for the past few seasons. And this is perhaps her best season. Too bad Russell has only a slight chance of winning. I still think Russell would have been the front-runner for season 4 if tapes still mattered.May 17, 2018 at 1:01 pm #1202549149
This might be Russell’s best season. She is SO above the competition, that watching her losing at the Emmys will be painful. On the other side, I think they could have used Philip better. Rhys is magnificent, but he hasn’t been given great material so far beside a couple of episodes.May 17, 2018 at 1:09 pm #1202549153
I’m rooting for Keri Russell as well.May 17, 2018 at 7:38 pm #1202549356

I saw it as a reinforcement of something she should have never forgot. Claudia was only on there side when it suited her. I thought it was a smart call back actually. My favorite episode in 24 months.
This was an Emmy winning episode for Felicity when tapes were submitted. Also, Rhys had a killer opening and I thought he had one too but disappeared. Still. This was The Americans I missed.May 18, 2018 at 12:11 am #1202549408
This season just keeps hitting it out of the park. Russell was so amazing in this episode, I’m going to be pissed when she doesn’t win.
Austin Abrams would make a pretty good guest actor nominee.May 18, 2018 at 6:37 am #1202549498
Give Keri Russell ALL the accolades! Holy shit!May 18, 2018 at 6:47 am #1202549509
My mum is watching this season and says Keri Russell is killing it. God, it’s such a shame that with so many brilliant performances around (Foy, Russell, Gyllenhaal, Maslany) we’re gonna see Moss prevail again for the same shit she did last season just because of #metoo BS.
