So Trevor Noah is the new host of The Daily Show…

He is a terrible choice, and I am speaking as a South African, and I know I should be patriotic to a fellow countryman, but Noah is just unfunny, shallow and has absolutely no presence.

Who thought he would be a good idea? Honestly? A South African commenting on American issues? I understand that John Oliver succeeded, but Trevor Noah is NOT John Oliver.

Hopefully he lasts a season or two. I can’t see him lasting longer. Oh well, there goes my interest in Comedy Central, down the drain. Colbert gone, Futurama gone – even Jon Stewart was okay compared to Noah.

    I think he’s hilarious.

He’s tragically unfunny. His segments are so awkward, I just cringe. Jessica Williams would have been a better choice. So would Aasif Mandvi. At least they’re funny.

I was secretly hoping it would be Craig Ferguson, who is not only hilarious and brilliant, but is actually a great interviewer. Sigh.

I haven’t revisited some of the show’s correspondent segments in a while, so I guess I don’t have too strong an opinion on Noah’s casting just yet.

Have you happened to catch Nathan for You, Broad City, or Review? Those are some shows that I think are well worth one’s time.

I thought they would give it to the most senior correspondent aka Sam Bee but I guess she is leaving for a sitcom or something. Fuck I still don’t get why Jon is leaving in the first place.

Yes! Love them – but haven’t Broad City and Nathan for You been cancelled? I heard that they have. Review hasn’t been on for a very long time, so I have no idea if that’s ever coming back. It would make my day to know these shows haven’t been cancelled, especially Nathan for You, which is the most I’ve ever laughed in years

Broad City was renewed for a third season before the second season premiered. I think it was on that same day.

Broad City aired an episode two weeks ago. Neither it nor Nathan for You was cancelled. Between those, Key and Peele, Inside Amy Schumer, Larry Wilmore, Workaholics, Drunk History, etc., Comedy Central has never been better.

People hoping for Noah to crash and burn will be gravely disappointed. The dude is whipsmart, and really funny. And the controversy over his tweets is so absurdly frivolous — he himself is part Jewish, and any of the notes of his YEARS-old tweets about fat chicks or whatever is only a fraction as misogynist as Bill Maher regularly word-vomits on his political satire late night show — that people will look back after Trevor has exploded in popularity with some major facepalm-age.

I don’t dislike him for those tweets – I didn’t find out about them until today. My dislike of him has been ongoing for a few years now. I just think he’s unfunny and not nearly smart enough to tackle a show like this. If they wanted someone really good, they should’ve gotten Loyiso Gola, a fellow South African comedian who has been hosting Late Night News, essentially a show inspired by The Daily Show, and he’s been nominated for a few Emmys for it.

    He’s kind of cute.

Too bad he’s a pathetic, unfunny, racist, nasty hack whose “comedy” are just a series of flimsy observations that would feel more at home in a church basement than on a major US television show.

He must go away. He’s a disgrace to my country’s entertainment talent. For every Charlize Theron, there is horrible actors like Sharlto Copley, or terrible comedians like Trevor Noah.

Did anyone watch the show? Please tell me it bombed!
