The following thread contains discussion and spoilers for The Walking Dead comic books, and thusly: potential spoilers for the TV show. Since the main thread does not include this type of talk and speculation, Im creating an outlet for it. If you do not wish to have a specific moment from the books and show revealed to you, stop reading now.

    Are you gone?

    You, sure?

    Ok.

This specific thread is to discuss who will die by meeting Lucille. The group introduced in “Always Accountable” was almost certainly The Saviors, and Daryl’s captor a pre-burn marked Dwight (brilliant way at getting him a crossbow btw). And with the recent news of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s casting we finally know that Negan is coming.

Glenn’s death at this villain’s hands is one of the biggest moments in the history of the books, and lo and behold the pizza boy is still alive for it to happen. Now with a weapon like Lucille, it obviously must get used. As many a director will tell you: dont put a gun on stage unless you’re going to use it. In this case the gun in a monstrous bat. But since we also know the show remixes deaths and plot points all the time, do we think Glenn still gets the kiss of death from Lucille?

In the next post I have my best guesses for which character is annointed with the iconic moment.

    THE CANDIDATES

    Glenn

    The comic book option.
It still could happen: He’s a beloved member of the Atlanta 5. He’s the
guy who always manages to scrap by and evade death in the most extreme
situations. And his death, just like in the comics, would immediately set Negan
as the cruelest character in the apocalypse. With Maggie pregnant and Enid
likely to fill Sophia’s shoes as a sort of adopted daughter figure, there will
be extra tragedy if Mr. Rhee meets his fate.

    Morgan

The Walking Dead has a serious problem with leader figures
outside of Rick. Anyone who threatens to pull focus from the Ricktatorship or
presents differing viewpoints is not long for this world. This is why the likes
of Shane, Dale, Hershel, (and likely Deanna) have all come and gone. The
writers don’t seem to know how to handle someone stepping on Rick’s territory.
Morgan’s “all life is precious” mentality could create a serious threat to Rick’s
leader status, his ideals possibly appealing to the likes of Gabriel or Glenn.
A meeting with Lucille would take care of offing a fan favorite and eliminating
    a threat to Rick.

    Carol

Over the past few seasons Carol has evolved from almost
useless to arguably the most badass person alive in The Walking Dead. She leads
zombie armies! She blows up Terminus! She bakes sadness casseroles and
threatens children! She shoots first asks questions never! We love her. And
that’s exactly why we should all be worried for her when Negan shows up. I
think her death would cause more fan outrage than any other character at this
point. But with Carol having been long dead in the comic and Gimple now steering
the show on a mirroring path to the books…how much longer will they be able to
    create original storylines for her?

    Daryl

“If Daryl dies, we riot” has become an annoying catchphrase
posted all over the internet on any and every Walking Dead article. Early on he
emerged as the most popular of the show’s original characters and amassed a
rabid fan base. But along the way he has stolen many storylines from comic
characters, making their TV counterparts comparatively bland (most egregiously
with Tyreese). Last season Daryl turned into a mopey loner with hardly any
material. He got a big episode this season introducing us to Dwight…but have
the writers finally run out of ideas for him? A bunch of fans rioting against
Negan might be the best end for the bowman.

Carol is the best character of the show and Melissa McBride is the strongest performer. They would be stupid to kill the character off.

The same with Daryl. He’s very beloved, even if Norman is not particulary interesting or talented, for some reason, he has the fanbase.

If they kill Daryl, that is absolutely IT for me and this show. So far, every time I develop an interest or I’m invested in a character, well, then they’re DEAD.

Daryl is an animal advocate btw. He loves animals and tries to protect them.

That makes him my kinda guy, irrespective of his persona on TWD.

The fact that both Carol and Daryl are beloved characters and provoke these kinds of responses is exactly why they are candidates on the list. The person Negan kills isnt going to be someone minor, it is going to be a fan favorite character. Glenn was one of the best characters in the comic books at that time, and he was someone everyone assumed was “unkillable”. Part of the core group.

I have Daryl in last because he is the only one who is 100% original to the show. And they can point to him as a true success of the show’s original material. I’m leaning towards Morgan or Carol at this point. Probably Morgan.

Daryl as an interesting character? He’s like the most dull of all. He has no development, he is like a depressive and hurt little girl trying to find his arrow through his disgusting hair since day one. Like wash your hair, Daryl! I don’t understand why people love him, seriously.

I don’t understand too. For me, he is just a inexpressive guy who have habilities with a crossbow.

    I love Daryl.

Me too. My heart breaks for him sometimes.

    Not allowed love

    Not allowed fear

    Not allowed emotional apex

    Not yet anyways.

Plus, I hate guns, but I’m a very good archer.

Yes, we know that Sam. They even said so in one of their interviews.

No emotional investment=boring assed show not worth watching.
