Who do you think are the worst Emmy episode submitters ever?August 16, 2013 at 2:17 pm #294506
Sofia Vergara. She only gets better at submitting as she gets less good episodes to submit.
Mary-Louise Parker, for sure. Parker messed up big time in 2009, I think, when Weeds had had one of its best seasons ever and was finally nominated for series, she had a killer tape in “No Man’s Pudding” and she submitted something else instead. At least she won for “Angels in America”, before.
Oh, and that time Laurie Metcalf was nominated for “Listen to the Rain on the Roof” (Desperate Housewives) instead of “Bang”. What a waste.August 16, 2013 at 3:26 pm #294507

- Pretty much everyone and everything on Modern Family except Eric Stonestreet
- Alec Baldwin lately
- Tons of shows in writing and directing
- Game of Thrones in cinematography
- Max Greenfield
Max Greenfield’s episode last year was actually a really good one, I thought.August 16, 2013 at 5:19 pm #294509
Come on. Everyone besides Stonestreet on MF is a bad submitter? Even Bowen who has won twice and is always a threat?
Greenfield? Regardless of his submission last year he has only bee nominated once.
John Goodman for Roseanne always submitted poorly.
Jane Kazcmarek submitted very poorly for 5 of her 7 submissions.
Sofia Vergara has been terrible.August 16, 2013 at 5:23 pm #294510
I think Kevin Dillon On ENTOURAGE was bad at submitting back in 2009 he had a good episode but then submitted the wrong oneMarcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantAugust 16, 2013 at 5:27 pm #294511
Yeah, he had the Fire Island episode.August 16, 2013 at 6:17 pm #294513
It has not because the Emmys love them almost unreservedly.August 16, 2013 at 6:37 pm #294514
While some of the MF cast has submitted poorly on a regular basis (e.g. Sofia Vergara), Julie Bowen submitted excellent tapes for her first three years (2010-2012), and 2 of those 3 tapes (My Funky Valentine; Strangers on a Treadmill) were her best of the respective season. Of course, each of those years she was helped by Vergara submitting tapes that were better for Bowen.August 16, 2013 at 7:37 pm #294515
Yeah Riley…you really should support that assertion. I understand Ferguson,O’Neill, and Vergara, but Stonestreet, Bowen, and Burrell, regularly submit winners.August 16, 2013 at 7:38 pm #294516

I thought that Sofia Vergara submitted well in 2012 with (“Tableau Vivant”) and that Julie Bowen was not helped by Sofia’s tape.August 16, 2013 at 7:52 pm #294517
There have been so many great submissions from the Modern Family actors who have won: “Fizbo” by Stonestreet, “Good Cop Bad Dog” for Burrell and “Strangers on a Treadmill” and even “Go Bullfrogs” were all very smart submissions. Not to talk about the submissions from Ferguson, O’Neil, and Vergara that were good, or at least serviceable. I think saying MF actors are notoriously bad submitters is biased and fairly short-sighted.

Rose Byrne and Glenn Close (and Lily Tomlin) for their third season of Damages. What the hell were they thinking???
I remember not liking Jane Krakowski’s “submission” for season 2 (top 10) and her submission for season 3, but she has submitted perfectly since then.
I actually think the MF cast does a great job at submitting (esp. Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, and Jesse Ferguson).
