Wonder if the Academy loves Episodes as much as Mr. Hammond.

Joanne Frogatt over Elizabeth McGovern is exactly the type of brain dead decision the TV Academy usually makes. These voters allegedly watch Downton Abbey so it should be McGovern getting the 2nd slot from DA.

Depressing not to see Jake Johnson and Corey Stoll. And I am starting to wonder what Patinkin did to piss people off.  He seems like such an obvious and worthy nomination being such a critical part to making Homeland one of their favorites.

No Jake M. Johnson in comedy actor and and total shut out from Arrested Development seems odd… but possible, two big bang theory girls I don’t think it’s gonna happen but it could ..I’m not saying ever that Cuoco deserves this more than any of the girls from community, parks and rec or happy endings but her show is more accesible so could very well happen, and her characters had some good  episodes this season. Also, Ciaran Hinds and Richard Thomas for GOT and The Americans respectively can’t happen! Derek Luke deserves much more and  Ciaran Hinds had, if I’m not mistaken, two scenes on the whole season of GOT it’s probably less than 1 minute of screentime by each one of those scenes.

OMG this comment had me rolling.

Strange predictions. He thinks Aaron Paul is gonna win?

When are people going to realize that Paul (who won because he had a STELLAR tape last year) simply does not have anything to even be competitive with?

    He cannot win.

I really don´t understand why everbody is so reluctant to even considering the possibility of a nod for Froggart.

Here’s what I find strange about his predictions:

    • 30 Rock shows up only for Lead Actor for Alec Baldwin and he’s in the sixth spot. No Tina Fey, no Krakowski, no series nomination.
    • Arrested Development shows up only for Supporting Actress for Jessica Walter. No Bateman, no Arnett, no series nomination.
    • The Americans shows up for Lead Actress, Lead Actor, and Supporting Actor but not for series. I understand having them get in for Lead Actor and Actress and not series, but getting into that very crowded Supporting Actor field and not getting into series seems unlikely.
    • Aaron Paul winning Supporting Actor with no competitive tape.
    • Episodes AND Parks & Rec getting into series. Very doubtful. Over Girls, 30 Rock, and Arrested Development.
    • Christina Hendricks in second place to win. Never gonna happen.

And that’s the non-guest categories, because those are always too crazy to predict and he’s gone with a lot of long-shot nominees I’m assuming on the basis of name recognition.

Never. He’s on Breaking Bad and thus must win. 😉

If Paul wins a third time, he becomes the most awarded person in Drama Supporting Actor ever. Without a tape or season to back up a win, I doubt voters will ignore that in order to make history, especially since this category has produced the fewest repeat winners of the 10 major categories (series, lead acting, supporting acting). The BB man who can win is Banks, provided he gets in and submits “Say My Name” while Paul pulls a Sofia Vergara (a.k.a. submitting a tape that is a better submission for your fellow nominated costar than yourself) and submits Madrigal.

Patricia Heaton for “The Middle” over Tina Fey was the first thing I saw and it didn’t convince me to make a big deal of his predictions.

Pay special attention to the Emmy predictions just given to Gold Derby by Pete Hammond. He not only writes about Emmys extensively for Deadline Hollywood, but he belongs to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and is a former member of its Board of Governors.

So this proves that the academy is out of touch with… itself.

This is very true. Paul won last year because he had the best tape and was amazing in Breaking Bad Season 5, better than Giancarlo. This year though, Paul doesn’t really have a tape. He still deserves to be nominated of course but he cannot and should not win. Not when you have Patinkin, Stoll or maybe even Banks in the mix.
