30 Rock executive producers/showrunners Tina Fey and Robert Carlock will be back on NBC next fall with a new New York-based single-camera series starring another familiar NBC face, The Office alumna Ellie Kemper.
“Tina and Robert, who cemented their partnership on ’30 Rock,’ have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional, and clever,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBCEntertainment.
The network has given a straight-to-series 13-episode order to the untitled project, written by Fey and Carlock. It will center on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and starts life over in New York City. Universal TV and Fey’s studio-based Little Stranger are producing, with Fey, Carlock and 3 Arts’ David Miner executive producing.

Awesome, can’t wait. I also think it was smart of them to just start at 13 episodes unlike a full season like they did with MJFOctober 31, 2013 at 2:16 pm #304983
Normally, “NBC” and “straight-to-series” in the same sentence is a punchline, but it was absolutely the right move here and good that they maybe have learned their lesson from giving The Michael J. Fox Show a full season order.October 31, 2013 at 8:24 pm #304984
Ellie Kemper was a lot of fun to watch on the office. I’ll be looking forward to this. I’m also happy that NBC isn’t giving up on sitcoms considering their abysmal performance this season.November 1, 2013 at 12:19 pm #304985

I wish Tina Fey would develop a show for CBS. She deserves more than 5 million people watching her shows.November 1, 2013 at 1:08 pm #304987
I think Tina Fey’s show will fit ABC more, and still has a nice amount of viewers.November 1, 2013 at 1:41 pm #304988
Love Fey, love Carlock, love Kemper. Hope to love this.
Willing to bet that an older Oscar winner/nominee will be cast in a supporting part in this. Any guesses?November 1, 2013 at 1:45 pm #304989

I’m glad this is single-cam. I know she previously mentioned wanting to do a multi-cam, so I was worried.November 1, 2013 at 2:42 pm #304992

Of course it could fail, but I believe it has a better chance to thrive. On NBC, it will have an easier time to survive, but its ratings would still be pretty bad.
