May 21, 2017 at 10:58 am #1202098545Given the deteriorating state of the movie category, this probably stands a better chance than 7 Days in Hell did. Sherlock not coming back anytime soon frees up a spot. Then again, that I can already name three other likely contenders might be a bad sign: Black Mirror, Mosaic and Killing Patton. And HBO will have another spring movie. Hmm.

I personally wasn’t a huge fan of 7 Days in Hell, so i’m a little more hopeful about this one. On the other hand, knowing the kind of comedy Andy Samberg comes up with, I don’t really see this getting any recognition. But, we’ll see.

Why are the premiering this in July again? Couldn’t they have done this in May so it could maybe get some Emmy recognition (if it deserves it)? 7 Days in Hell also came out on July. Too late for one year, extremely early and forgotten for the next.

July 5, 2017 at 8:28 pm #1202142976While I haven’t seen any official reviews yet, Sepinwall said in his podcast that it isn’t as funny as 7 days in Hell, but if you were a fan, you will like this as well.

July 8, 2017 at 8:03 pm #120214595570 on metacritic with 10 reviews. Weirdly there are only 4 rotten tomato reviews, three fresh, one rotten. I’ve never seen more metacritic reviews than rotten tomato reviews, especially over twice as much.
I’m about to start watching now.

July 8, 2017 at 9:10 pm #1202145987I just finished. It was funny. Not great but I chuckled. Some of the casting was genius. I’d only nominate this for casting, and TV movie because it’ll be weak but they need to just dissolve that category.
When they revealed the identity of Freddie Highmore I DIED. I was did find it funny though that Samberg and Highmore never kissed. I wonder which one of them resisted. But honestly that casting was genius.
John Cena can’t act but him as the younger Dolph Lundgren was also genius. And Andy Smaberg and Jeff Goldblum was funny.
Surprisingly I can’t believe I’m saying this but the MVP for me was Mike Tyson. He wasn’t a good actor or anything but he had funny one liners.
Was that Orlando Bloom’s real Penis?
My grade: C

I did and I quite enjoyed it. Nothing special, but it was funny. Like you said, the casting is genius. Freddie Highmore and Lance Armstrong were entertaining.
