I just viewed the first episode. It’s pretty good. I can imagine it doing well at the Emmys if they just make it a little more comedic and maybe get Jeffrey Trambor more screen time and some comedic material he could be a major Emmy contender.

I watched the pilot a couple weeks ago. I thought it was okay. I’m not sure why the critics are eating it up as much as they are, but whatever. The best part was the usage of Jim Croce’s “Operator (That’s Not The Way It Feels)”.

Judith Light was barely in the pilot and none of the kids were anything special. Jeffrey Tambor has the baity character and could be an awards contender.

Melora Hardin cut her hair. I loved her in TNT’s Wedding Band. That was a fun show.

I’m more excited for Amazon’s Red Oaks. I hope they pick it up.

Do you think they will submit in Comedy or Drama?

I think they will have a way better chance if they submit in Comedy. The Comedy Actor category is unbelievably uncompetitive (you can tell because Parsons keeps winning and Cheadle keeps getting nominated) and I could see Trambor winning. I think the show won’t get a Best Series nomination because it is way to small of a show.

Comedy (it’s one of those in between shows and it’s a half hour). It’s going to be tricky for the Emmys. The first season is airing in full in September. Will the voters remember? I can see the HFPA looking for something new and latching onto this show for a couple nominations. Will they embrace Amazon though? Jeffrey Tambor would be a lock if Transparent was a new Showtime series.

Damn, that’s disappointing to hear. I got the impression from the first full-length trailer that she wasn’t going to play a prominent role. This woman is such an incredible and versatile talent, and I’d love to see her in a role that suits her extraordinary talents. Otherwise, she’s more than welcome to come back to Broadway and go for that third Tony Award!

Overall, I think the series looks very promising, especially Tambor. I’m a big fan of his previous works and would also love to see a role that offers him some range, and Transparent looks to be the one! I was in New York City today and noticed Amazon has marketing for this series on lots of buses, so I hope it gains some traction.

Ya I agree with you. I think the fact that this is an Amazon series will help it’s chances a lot the HFPAA always loves to be the first reccognize things

Amazon is marketing this show pretty heavily all over New York – I see it multiple times a day on the bus stops and in subway stations on the way to work. I love it!

The pilot was a beautifully written and produced 30 minutes and absolutely captured my interest. I love the premise, and although it’s obviously all about Jeffrey Tambor’s character, I love the inclusion of the kids’ stories and how their lives are just as complicated, in very different ways. Will definitley be watching the season in full when it’s released (this week?)

Will Amy Landecker submit for Lead Actress at Emmys? because she probably has the most screen time compared to the other cast (even Trambor)

Judith’s character becomes more of a major character as the season progresses.

Great news, thanks for the update Joe!

I’m so very anxious to start watching but I know I’ll watch them too quickly if I start over a weekend.
