The trailer seems very promosing, and the star power is huge. McConaughey might very well win his first Oscar next March for his film Dallas Buyers Club, and then the Emmy in September for this?.

McConaughey is going to be taking over the world in the next couple years.

I’m kind of confused by this… it’s unlikely that McConaughey will win an Oscar for an HBO series. An Emmy, maybe.

The trailer does look promising. The only thing that’s a little uncertain is that the creator/writer has very limited TV experience (2 episodes of The Killing).

I meant that he might win the Oscar for his film Dallas Buyers Club, and now he might be up for an Emmy for this next September.

I mean that he might be the first actor (was there one?) who can win an Oscar and an Emmy in the same year.

But I did configure my sentence very badly, sorry.

The Oscar talk is for Dallas Buyers Club, for which McConauhey has a lot of buzz and might win an Oscar next year. It was keeping with the statement that he is gonna take over the world soon. First movies, and then TV. First Oscar, and then an Emmy, and so on.

    OK, I got it now.

And Helen Mirren won an Oscar and an Emmy in 2007.

As did Helen Hunt. Sandwiched Emmys between her Oscar win even.

Actually, Mirren did the same. She won an Emmy for Elizabeth in 2006, then the Oscar for The Queen, then an Emmy for Prime Suspect in 2007.

I saw the trailer for this last night. It gave me a ‘Red Riding Trilogy’ vibe, which is a good thing. I love Woody Harrelson, and Matthew McConaughey is now one of the most consistent actors at choosing great and interesting projects (which even 3 years ago I would’ve laughed in your face had you told me I’d say that one day). Both look great in the trailer. I’m very intrigued.

For anyone not aware, McConaughey and Harrelson are only contracted for one season and the show intends to rotate its cast every year.  With that in mind and that there are only eight episodes, we could very well see this entered in the miniseries categories, following the success of American Horror Story.

I have no doubts it will be submitted in minisseries. It will have a completely different story very year, and HBO is smart.

This looks like it could be really great, or a big disappointment.  I’m hoping for the really great, but I’m going to be watching the first couple of episodes anyways!

The second trailer is epic. Way better than the first one. I love how dark and suffocating the atmosphere is and McConaughey’s character is very intriguing! I’m quite excited for this!
