Unreal season one was a surprise for many, but season 2 disappointed most fans. Hopefully season 3 will be a return to form, and we already got our first peice of hopeful news.
I’m not sure how I feel about them going with a female suitor, but Fitzgerald can make anything better. As far as I know, Marti Noxon isn’t returning, so that unfortunately means season 3 will be closer in quality to season one than two. Hopefully Sarah Gertrude Shapiro can prove me wrong. I really want season 3 to be amazing!January 19, 2017 at 5:04 pm #1201991019
Yeah season 2 wasn’t very good. One of the reasons for me, was that they really didn’t seem to care about the women on Everlasting, season one seemed to be better on that front and you got more characters to work with and less of the boyfriend drama and all that crap which took a lot of space in season 2. Everlasting felt dull and not important.
I think the first step in the right direction has been taken, they actually cast a real good actor in the role, this time of the bachelorette, instead of a disposable one. So that tells me they will at least try to make this character a good one. Maybe the dynamic will change having all these men around, women make for better television than the men, but I’ve seen some crazy shit happen on the Bachelorette and of course this team has too, so many things could work. But again, casting a true dramatic actress, somebody with real acting experience in this role is a huge step forward.January 19, 2017 at 6:22 pm #1201991033
Yes, and I think another problem with season 2, the main problem for me, was that Unreal was basically two shows that occasionally crossed over. We had Everlasting with the football player black romance, and then we had the absurd gossipy drama with the racheal Quinn Jeremy story line. Season one was so well written and tied together about the a reality show, while season two was just a scripted reality show. It was not well written. The drama was silly. It had no emotional impact. I felt like I was watching a worst version of the bachelor. I read an article from the Hollywood reporter saying that season 2 sucked because the behind the scenes drama. Noxon is experienced and I trust her. She was behind season one and the beginning of season two, which was not terrible. However, Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, whose main experience is with the bachelor took over. In season one, she worked good with Noxon because Noxon wrote a good story while Shapiro provided insight to the business. However, once Noxon left, it was clear that the story was not Shapiro’s strong suit, as she ended up righting a gossipy reality show instead of a poetic behind the scenes story that was season one. That is why I am still worried about season 3, because Shapiro is still in control. Hopefully she can learn from her mistakes.
