I realize there is a Bates Motel season 3 thread. I also realize there are several threads devoted to Drama categories, some strictly pertaining to Lead Actress (arguably the most competitive category of the night). I have created this thread to make forum users aware that two weeks ago, on episode 306 of Bates Motel, Vera Farmiga gave a series-best performance. I cannot believe how little buzz she has around here, and I’m sure it’s because not many forum users have kept up with the show. In short, it’s the type of tour de force performance that would typically have GoldDerby blowing up.
Here’s the best part: You can go to AETV.com and watch the episode… For free! Go right ahead. Many voters watch only the submitted episodes so you would be watching from the same perspective as them. If you do want to get caught up, then go to Netflix because seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on it. I believe AETV.com streams the episodes for a month after the air-date, so that gives you two more weeks to watch. If you miss it, go rent it on Amazon for $2.

Julianna Margulies was welcomed back and won. I have no doubt that if Vera Farmiga can just get in, she will go all the way to the podium, even knocking down Robin Wright’s performance that I thought was unstoppable and unbeatable in “Chapter 32.”
1. Vera Farmiga, Bates Motel
2. Robin Wright, House of Cards
3. Taraji P. Henson, Empire
4. Viola Davis, How to Get Away with Murder
5. Taylor Schilling, Orange is the New Black
6. Kerry Washington, Scandal
There’s also a recent and popular thread for actors who are unlikely to get nominated but have winning tapes.
^Yes indeed. Forgot to mention that one. Thanks!
I feel like that’s the dilemma in drama actress this year. So many have winning tapes, but there’s only 6 spots. Unless we see 7?
Lizzy Caplan and Vera Farmiga, despite being former nominees, are going to be snubbed.
The real race for those slots it’s among Margulies, Danes, Dockery, Davis, Henson, Moss, Wilson, Wright and Schilling.
I watched Farmiga tape after reading the reviews here…I agree it’s strong, but still I don’t think would win an Emmy to her..
I actually thought Farmiga was better in episode 2, The Arcanum Club. Norma Louise was sloppy, messy and detached in the writing, and that reflected in Farmiga’s performance for me. She felt very one note compared to other tapes.
