(Freddie Highmore is pretty great too.) She needs an Emmy! None of the editors are even predicting a nomination. Come on guys!!!April 12, 2014 at 12:01 am #315813
Her acting is always too OTT. And the whole show sucks as well. I watched the first three episodes of this season and I’ve stopped watching it altogether now.April 20, 2014 at 12:57 pm #315814
I have to disagree it’s even better than the second season and thee acting especially Farmiga just keeps getting better and better!April 30, 2014 at 7:18 am #315815
This season has been really good. The plotlines are all coming together now and you can tell there was a well-planned arc. And Farmiga has been doing work worthy of not just a nomination, but a win. Her performance in “Shadow of a Doubt” was superb and would make a knockout submission. She was also very good in this week’s “The Box”, but it was probably a little one-note for a submission due to story requirements.May 10, 2014 at 2:57 am #315816
I agree that “Shadow of a Doubt” should be her submission. The scene where she argues with Norman outside the community theatre was just brilliant acting. (from Highmore too.)May 10, 2014 at 6:11 am #315817
I don’t want to be too disruptive but the show is mediocre, and her acting way over the top.May 10, 2014 at 6:30 am #315818
Um, she Norman Bates’ fricking mother! She is SUPPOSED to be over the top! Farmiga nails it and I would love to see her win for this role over the same old same old we see winning the category.May 10, 2014 at 7:36 am #315819
Her performance is well measured. Just the right amount of over the top. I wouldn’t refer to her a brilliant. People just love to throw that word around. It’s a good camp performance. I’d be okay with her winning (though she’s unlikely to be nominated) if the show surrounding her wasn’t so bland.May 10, 2014 at 10:00 am #315820
The show is good, but Farmiga and Highmore are perfect! They are both doing award-worthy work. I have always enjoyed Farmiga, but Highmore has really come into his own this season. Too bad he doesn’t have a chance at a nomination!May 10, 2014 at 10:20 am #315821
Halfway throug the second season and it was a huge step up from the first one. I think Farmiga already has a competitive tape on the second episode, and her performance in the rest of the episodes so far were not far behind. If she gets nominated then it’ll just up the standard of the Lead Actress race. Glad that Highmore is also holding on with the intensity of Farmiga’s performance.
So far everything in this show is getting better and I can’t wait to check out the next episodes. Should be considered for Cinematography and especially its Production Design. I would like to commend the Costumes but I guess it might be too subtle for the Academy’s taste?
