On today’s episode of “Derby Talk,” “Mad Men” creator Matt Weiner tackles lots of fascinating topics, including this one: WHAT HE THINKS OF YOU. He discusses his opinion of the Gold Derby message boards. It’s about 20 or 25 minutes into our video chat:
Matt has followed us closely for many years. In fact, just moments after Tina Fey blasted these message boards in her 2009 acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, Matt come up to me backstage and said, “I know all of those posters that Tina mentioned by name. You must’ve been SHOCKED to hear her attack them in her speech. I know exactly what she was talking about. I’m in your message boards all the time. They’re great. This whole thing is HILARIOUS.”
Thanks for using my question as a piece of input, Tom! Sorry if the wording on Rosemarie DeWitt and the other guest stars threw you off a bit. Really appreciated the chat with Weiner.
Halo — yeah, Matt trumped me when I mentioned your Rosemarie deWitt example. Ah, well — I didn’t quote it correctly, apparently.
I think it’s hilarious that Matt Weiner finds you guys so CORDIAL, POLITE AND CONSIDERATE when discussing hot topics in these forums! Haaaa … I’m sure he’s seen some of the bloodbaths around here …
I’ve got to take some time to watch this. The weather is gonna nice this weekend so I wont wanna be inside. Could this be turned into a podcast?
This was another excellent, insightful talk.
My one problem with these derbytalks is that the ustream videos take so terribly long to load. I prefer watching them when they’re put on youtube (but sometimes it takes a day or two).
I’m not sure if it’s just my computer, but it shouldn’t be. I can livestream 3 or 4 things at once and it still takes me 2 hours to watch a 50 minute derbytalk.
