Get out your DVDs and get really excited about the new season and movie. And watch them for the 6th or 7th time.
Anyone with me?October 8, 2011 at 5:59 pm #231627
I started the marathon the minute I heard the news last sunday. Took those dvds out and saw 12 episodes in one day. I’m on Martha Complex right now (Season 1 Episode 12).
There are jokes and episodes that just don’t get old. Bringing Up Buster is hilarious. The Milford Academy, Carl Weathers, Hermano, HOOP, Tobias going to the gay bar instead of the magic show, the whole Pier Pressure setting at the pier, the notes and J Walter Weatherman, George Michael and the candy hearts, Buster and Lucille Two, Kitty…
It truly is a genius show.October 8, 2011 at 6:02 pm #231628
Oh Arrested Development…. How could Fox just toss you away like you were some other show?October 8, 2011 at 6:09 pm #231629
I’ll do a marathon within the next few weeks, I guess. I know I’ll do one again before the episodes and the movie start. LOL.October 8, 2011 at 8:53 pm #231630
I will definitely do a marathon as the episodes and movie get closer. If they really happen. I have rewatched Arrested Development about 5 times now. It is still great.October 8, 2011 at 9:57 pm #231631
I re-watched season 1 like a month ago. I’ll be re-watching 2 and 3 soon.October 8, 2011 at 10:09 pm #231632
I have only seen the pilot episode of this series, but everyone and their dog tells me that if I do not see this series, I don’t deserve to call myself a man. Considering how psyched everyone here is about the show’s final season (I still cannot believe its becoming a reality, as that cancellation left a bad taste in so many people’s mouths), I think I might need to join in on this marathon idea.October 8, 2011 at 10:24 pm #231633
began the series this summer, finished it in a week, and am now rewatching it!October 8, 2011 at 10:28 pm #231634

That is something you should do. Personally, I think the pilot episode is the worst in series, so it’s only uphill from here.October 9, 2011 at 12:01 am #231635
^ A couple of episodes in season three were weaker. I actually like the pilot. It’s a bit of a mess, but it has a caustic, semi-releastic vibe that the show gave up on real quick.
I re-watched seasons one and two a couple of months ago. I don’t think I’ve ever gone a whole year without a three-day AD binge. Some sections of season three are difficult to get through, so I’ll hold that off until the new episodes air/movie is released.October 9, 2011 at 12:35 am #231636
Season three was bogged down by the Charlize Theron plot. Once that was resolved, then season 3 was excellent like seasons 1 and 2. I hope that Liza will be back.October 9, 2011 at 12:49 am #231637
Season 2 is near perfection. I could watch it again and again and again. I still find it so, so funny. Even on my 5th or 6th viewing.October 9, 2011 at 12:53 am #231638
Meanwhile, back at the model home…
I actually powered through far too many episodes of season two on Netflix instant watch the other day (I own the dvds). So damn funny.October 9, 2011 at 6:47 am #231639
GOB: “Wait, Dad? You’ve been in the attic the whole… MICHAEL!”
Will Arnett’s GOB is possibly the funniest character in the history of television.
“I’m in charge now. I speak for this family. I mean … I could if
you wanted me to. I’d rather not, obviously. Don’t know what I’d say.
Why do I have to be the one? I don’t need this. Why does this have to
become my problem? No, I’m out. Forget it. Find somebody else. I’m sick
of it. I’m sick of doing everything for this family.”October 9, 2011 at 7:00 am #231640

Even beyond the Theron episodes season three lacked the spark and easy brilliance of the first two. Too much effort, too much meta humor, not enough wit. The show probably ran its course. That’s is what worries me about these subsequent episodes and possible movie. Oh, and the mediocrity of Running Wilde doesn’t instill much confidence either.
I say let AD r.i.p and bring back Pushing Daisies instead.
(and I hope Liza comes back as well).
