The US premiere of Welcome to Sweden is tonight at 9pm on NBC.
I have seen the entire first season and have to say, that is one heck of a cute and funny show. I can only advise you to check it out! It’s definitely one of my new favorite shows of 2014.
First season guest stars include: Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza, Malin Akerman, Patrick Duffy, Gene Simmons and Will Ferrell.
The show has already been renewed for a second season.
Here’s what critics have written about it:
«Welcome to Sweden is a light-hearted and clever look at both Swedish and American cultures that is as addicting as it is charming.» – Sadie Gennis, TV Guide
«Summer might be the time to try [Welcome to Sweden] out, but with any kind of success, NBC could have an appealing utility player for next season.» – Brian Lowry, Variety
«Welcome to Sweden is a charming new entry into the genre, and after watching the first two episodes I’ll be coming back for more.» – Michael Starr, NY Post
«Welcome to Sweden is engaging for its exotic Scandinavian setting and warm visual style. It’s a winning mix of low-key charm and robust humor.» – David Hiltbrand, Philly
«Welcome to Sweden knows the story it wants to tell, and it does so in tightly crafted half-hour blocks that are fjords full of charm» – Allison Keene, Hollywood Reporter
«The show’s humor is subtle, the plot lines somewhat predictable, but both the individual character development and the interaction among those characters make “Sweden” more than welcome.» – David Wiegand, SFGate
Some are saying good things about Amy poehlers brother as the lead and that he does well.
The most remarkable thing about the pilot was how Greg Poehler is a perfect cross between his sister Amy Poehler and Greg Kinnear.
It never angered me, but I never laughed either.
