Rachel Brosnahan got a guest nomination for “House of Cards,” but she also appeared in the high-profile “Olive Kitteridge” and in the under-the-radar “Manhattan.”

Gaby Hoffmann was eligible for “Girls” before, but she got nominated this year when she’s also got a prominent role in “Transparent.”

And Khandi Alexander has had more to do on “Scandal” in previous seasons, but she was nominated this year, when a lot of voters were also watching her in “Bessie.”

I wonder if having multiple roles in Emmy contenders helps some actors get nominated when they otherwise might not have. I can see someone looking at a guest-acting ballot and thinking, “Oh, I liked Brosnahan in a couple of things this year. I think I’ll vote for her here.”

Is there anyone else who might have gotten a boost from appearing in multiple projects?

I don’t remember Brosnahan from Olive Ktteridge. Was it a cameo?

I agree the point though. But the big ones affect the little ones, not the other way around.
Hoffmann is nominated for Girls, because the voters loved her on Transparent just like when they decided to nominate Jane Lynch for Two and a Half Men same year as her Glee debut. This is Guest categories only purpose after all, lol.

Khandi Alexander-Bessie&Scandal. Definitely possible! Should’ve predicted her.

Brosnahan was Corey Michael Smith’s love interest. He saved her when she fell of the cliff.
