What show/performance that is completely off the wall and off Emmy radar did or do you currently watch that you think deserved(s) Emmys attention? And I’m not talking: Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Buffy”) or Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Bklack”) – both on Emmys radar – I’m thinking more: Erika Alexander (“Living Single”) and Mark Addy (“Still Standing”) type nominees. And on top of that, do you think if these nominee’s of yours would have been nominated would they have been a threat and potential winner? Here are a few of mine:

    Comedy Series:
    Less Than Perfect (ABC)
    Still Standing (CBS)
    Happy Endings (ABC)

    Lead Comedy Actor:
    Mark Addy, Still Standing (CBS)
    Martin Lawrence, Martin (FOX)
Warwick Davis, Life’s Too Short (HBO)

    Lead Comedy Actress:
Sara Rue, Less Than Perfect (ABC)
    Mo’Nique, The Parkers (UPN)
    Jami Gertz, Still Standing (CBS)
    Sherylin Fenn, Rude Awakening (Showtime)

    Supporting Comedy Actor:
Jaleel White, Family Matters (ABC – 1990/1991)
    Adam Pally, Happy Endings (ABC)
Damon Wayans Jr., Happy Endings (ABC)
Zachary Levi, Less Than Perfect (ABC)

    Supporting Comedy Actress:
    Lynn Redgrave, Rude Awakening (Showtime)
    Erika Alexander, Living Single (FOX)
    Countess Vaugh, The Parkers (UPN)
    Casey Wilson, Happy Endings (ABC)
    Elisha Cuthbert, Happy Endings (ABC)
    Eliza Coupe, Happy Endings (ABC)
Andrea Parker, Less Than Perfect (ABC)
Tichina Arnold, Everybody Hates Chris (CW/UPN)

    Drama Series:
    Southland (NBC/TNT)
    Beverly Hills 90210 (FOX)
    Major Crimes (TNT)
    Hannibal (NBC)

    Lead Drama Actor:
    Ben McKenzie, Southland (NBC/TNT)
Luke Perry, Beverly Hills 90210 (FOX)
Edward James Olmos, Battlestar Galactica (SyFy)
    Stephen Amell, Arrow (CW)
    Hugh Dancy, Hannibal (NBC)

    Lead Drama Actress:
    Mary McDonnell, Battlestar Galactica (SyFy)
    Eva Green, Penny Dreadful (Showtime)
    Elizabeth Pena, Resurrection Blvd. (Showtime)

    Supporting Drama Actor:
    Michael Cudlitz, Southland (NBC/TNT)
    Mads Mikkelsen, Hannibal (NBC)

    Supporting Drama Actress:
    Regina King, Southland (NBC/TNT)
    Kelly Rowan, The O.C. (FOX)
    Melinda Clarke, The O.C. (FOX)
Jennie Garth, Beverly Hills 90210 (FOX)

Here are two that came to mind pretty quickly; I’m not sure that they’re specifically what you have in mind, but they should count!

Comedy Series: Life With Bonnie (ABC)

A wholesome family comedy that harkened back to the best classic situation comedies.  I believe Bonnie Hunt was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series once for her performance, but it deserved much more recognition and a much longer run!

Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series: Jerry Stiller, The King of Queens (CBS)

Another series that was slightly on the Emmy radar (Kevin James was nominated once for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series), but Stiller was also the best character on the series and could have easily won had he been nominated!

I’ll definitely have more to add later on!

    Lead Actress in a Drama

    Virginia Madsen, Scoundrels

    * The show didn’t last long, but I remember she had this really nice touching scene with Leven Rambin in one episode. That would’ve been her Emmy tape.

    Supporting Actor in a Comedy

    William Daniels, Boy Meets World

    * He won 2 Emmys for St. Elsewhere, but he’ll forever be Mr. Feeny.

Lisa Kudrow, Victor Garber, Lily Tomlin, and Dan Bucatinsky and tons of guest stars for Web Therpay. One of the funniest shows on TV

Easy : Aden Young on Rectify. Most egregious snub in any category this year.

Well not really because no one expected him to be nominated of course, but in terms of pure merit I mean.

Gah! That’s a great one. A lot of these you all are pointing out are pretty great.

And Naa on the Adam Brody, Chow. He already got his prize in Rachel Bilson/Summer Roberts.

I’d say Newsradio, in general, would’ve made my Wish List in a good amount of categories. Obviously, Phil Hartman earned a posthumous nomination, but that was less out of enjoyment for the show and more out of reverence to him. Dave Foley, in particular, deserved a lot of attention in the Lead Actor category.

If Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) counts as “on the Emmy radar,” then so too does Mary McDonnell (Battlestar Galactica). I think she even made the top 10 semifinalists list for Lead Actress when the Emmys still did that. Anyway, Hannibal, Parenthood, and Southland would all pick up nominations at my personal awards.

My off-the-wall pick for comedy would be Better Off Ted, which I would nominate in Comedy Series, Writing, Directing, and multiple acting categories for both its seasons.
