Best Supporting Actress in a Mini-series seems really hard. I haven’t seen Melissa Leo yet but all others seem competitive.Marcus Snowden (The Artist Formerly Known as msnowden1)ParticipantJuly 14, 2016 at 5:44 pm #1201869975
Drama Supporting Actress for me. That category is a bloodbath with Tierney, Williams, Headey, Clarke, Zimmer and Smith.July 14, 2016 at 5:45 pm #1201869976
Drama Supporting Actress. I think all three Game of Thrones ladies will split votes, and Smith doesn’t seem like a winner due to the poor turnout for Downton Abbey (especially in the acting categories) this year. So that leaves us with Maura Tierny and Constance Zimmer who don’t really seem like winners. Tierney is the sole nominee of a show that has had a more mixed received second season (and the first season was shoutout after coming off a well received first season and two Golden Globe wins). And with Zimmer there is some buzz surrounding her and the show did get a surprise writing nom which means that it is known throughout the TV Academy, but the show is on Lifetime and I don’t really see her on that stage.July 14, 2016 at 7:31 pm #1201870023

Maggie Smith easily has this in the bag. All the women with the exception of Paulson could win supporting actress limited series or movie.July 15, 2016 at 5:35 am #1201872926
Post-nominations, I feel like it is Movie/Mini Supporting Actor, where I had been convinced it was between Martin Freeman and Denis O’Hare, and Drama Supporting Actress, where I thought the battle would surely be between Uzo Aduba and Christine Baranski. I’m reluctantly predicting Plemons and Smith now, but really have no clue at this point.July 15, 2016 at 7:32 am #1201872960
Drama Lead Actor

Honestly I think all the drama acting categories are tough to predict at this point. Obviously Jon Hamm is gone from Lead Actor so we’ll have a new winner, but I’m not so sure Kevin Spacey has it in the bag. Rami Malek and Matthew Rhys are certainly fresher and more exciting.
Lead Actress will probably still go to Viola Davis but again, there are some threats. The acting branch clearly adores House of Cards and Robin Wright had a great season, so she could upset — as could Keri Russell.
Supporting Actor is kind of a mess, with three nominees who barely did anything in their seasons (Peter Dinklage, Michael Kelly, Ben Mendelsohn), a nominee who was snubbed last year (Jon Voight), a returning nominee who really should have won with such a dynamic tape last year (Jonathan Banks) and potential Slap the Stud victim Kit Harington. I’d hate to see them default to Dinklage again for doing nothing. I imagine it’s between Voight and Harington.
Supporting Actress is absolutely nuts and could go in any direction. Lena Headey really should have won last year but with Uzo Aduba out of the way, can she do it this year? Maggie Smith was completely snubbed last year and she’s the only acting nominee for Downton. Constance Zimmer has a shot since they love rewarding working actors. Can’t see the other three winning, but there’s always a chance.
In summary, the drama races are more exciting than I thought they’d be.July 15, 2016 at 4:15 pm #1201873216
1. Peter Dinklage versus Kit Harington versus Jonathan Banks
2. Viola Davis versus Robin Wright
3. David Mandel versus Alex Gregory & Peter Huyck versus Alec Berg
4. Inside Amy Schumer versus Key & Peele
5. Tony Hale versus Ty Burrell versus Keegan-Michael Key versus Tituss BurgessJuly 15, 2016 at 9:13 pm #1201873279

And then Braugher pulls Merritt Wever…
Funny, I’m predicting Anderson for now.

I want Anderson to win Comedy Supporting Actor. I love Veep but this is the first time in the category where a rival show had a nominee I can genuinely root for.
