One of my favorite moments of last years Golden Globes was when Matt Bomer was rightfully crowned Best Supporting Actor in all of television. The Globes have a long history of crowning those individuals and shows that either miss out on the win or are snubbed in general. This was the only award Carrell won for the office or Poehler for Parks.

This year I could see Empire scoring nods for show, Henson, Howard and breakout star Smollett. Remember they did give Best comedy or musical to Glee twice. Also it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try and submit the show on the Comedy/Musical side if they can. I could also see nods for Banks but they never did love Breaking Bad. More likely is they nominate a one time winner Dinklage and lookout for Headey to pull a Froggat this year and possibly run away with the prize.

On the comedy side, let me be the first to say Ellie Kemper not only will be nominated but win for Kimmie Schmidt. I would love Burgess to get a win, but just a nod in that crapshoot of a category is a victory for a comedy actor.

So what Emmy mistake or Snub do you hope the Globes fix!

Ben Mendehlson in Bloodline seems like a performance that the HFPA would recognize.

Kemper is a lock for a nom for comedy/musical actress, and maybe win.

I’m pretty sure The Affair will make it in somewhere, probably just Ruth Wilson.

Unless HFPA has watched The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe I don’t see Queen Latifah losing. HFPA loves them young and fresh but if they haven’t seen it then it’s Latifah all the way. And good for her. This time she’ll give her speech. It’s a fucking shame the one time she’s won GGs were canceled. And she couldn’t be at SAGs to give her speech there too. She’s such an unlucky speaker. Oh, and Howard ain’t winning a shit. Somehow I feel like Liev Schreiber is gonna take it.

We could see an influx of “Outlander” love this year at the Golden Globes, including Best Drama, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan.

Mendelsohn and Banks are already super-not-Globe-friendly where they mostly just like movie stars doing TV or flashy stuff. Their names are basically less well-known than the last 20 winners of that category were in their respective years. Add to their Emmy competition the possibilities of Ted Danson, Tituss Burgess, Alfred Molina, Damian Lewis, Christian Slater, Jim Belushi, Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd, etc.? Banks and Mendelsohn would be lucky to be nominated.

Since I’m predicting “Better Call Saul” to get in Drama Series and Lead Actor, there’s no reason to exclude Jonathan Banks from the Supporting Actor catch-all. I don’t think “Bloodline” is going to do much in the field. “Narcos” looks to be more GG-friendly as the new foreign drama property. “Sens8” isn’t going to fly, I’m guessing. Then we have “House of Cards” and wherever they place “Orange Is the New Black.”

I don’t think the Globes necessarily seem themselves as righting Emmy wrongs, just having their tastes and going forward with that. They held out a super long time to reward “Breaking Bad” and Bryan Cranston, for example, and I’ll respect that. “Better Call Saul” should be more accessible at its first run. It is nice when they acknowledge performances that the Emmys boneheadedly snubbed or screwed over. Matt Bomer’s a great example of that, along with many others. They’ve latched on to some adventurous and novel choices lately, which is becoming more notable than anything the Emmys or SAGs are doing right now (maybe excluding the Critics Choice’s). It can’t all be about starfucking, right? Gina Rodriguez? Joanne Froggatt? Jacqueline Bissett? Come on, now.

That would be embarrassing to their credibility.

    Tituss Burgess HAS TO WIN!!!

I’ll then be okay with whatever. Except if Terminator, Fant4stic, Southpaw, Paper Towns, or Stupider Ascending get nominated for anything. Then I might actually cry. Also if Sony pulls another Tourist/Burlesque by bribing Globes voters into nominating Pixels for everything. Best Spporting Actor James, Dinklage, Gad, Cox, Support. Actress for Monaghan, Actor for Sandler, Script, Music Score, YOU NAME IT IT COULD HAPPEN WITH THESE PEOPLE.
