We are working on a photo gallery soon discussing the Emmy records that could be broken or tied this year.

Please help us out and provide several of them, whether they are obvious or more obscure.

For example, “Mad Men” could break the record for Best Drama Series wins with five. It already is tied for the record of four with “Hill Street Blues,” “L.A. Law,” and “Mad Men.”

Like somebody said on another thread, Julia Louis Dreyfus would tie Tyne Daly winning for three different shows as a regular castmember.

Also, could Louis CK be the biggest looser ever in a single year (hopefully not but it’s very possible)? And by the way Is he the biggest nominee in a single year?

I was going to ask that if Lena Dunham looses them all (also entirely possible) could she be a record holder (in case C.K does win), but Tina Fey already lost 4 in 2010.

If Julia Louis-Dreyfus wins Lead Comedy Actress she would join Tyne Daly in the feat of winning a lead or supporting Emmy for 3 different shows.

    Tyne Daly — Cagney & Lacey (’83, ’84, ’85, ’88), Christy (’96), Judging Amy (’03)
Julia Louis-Dreyfus — Seinfeld (’96), The New Adentures of Old Christine (’06), Veep?

Judy Davis and Mare Winningham are tied with 2 wins a piece in the Supporting Actress Movie/Mini category along with Jane Alexander and Colleen Dewhurst. They will both likely lose to Jessica Lange, but if one pulled off an upset they would have the most Emmys in this category.

Louis C.K. could win 7 Emmys, which would be a record. In fact, if he of Lena won 4 Emmys, that would be a record, I believe. Downton Abbey could be the first series to win Outstanding Miniseries or TV Movie and Outstanding Drama Series since Upstairs, Downstairs.

If Curb Your Enthusiasm doesn’t win Outstanding Comedy Series, it will have the most best series nominations without a win of any show (drama or comedy) in the history of the Emmy Awards.

If Bryan Cranston wins Lead Actor Drama he would join only Dennis Franz in the feat of winning that category 4 times.

Easy as pie with Kelsey Grammar and Hugh Laurie gone.

    On topic…

Should Kathy Bates lose, she will be 0 for 11. Emmys tend to flock towards Oscar winners. Bates won her Oscar for 1990’s Misery yet wasn’t nominated for an Emmy until 1996. Should she lose both, will she be the biggest Emmy loser that has an Oscar? Is she already? I know Angela Lansbury is 0-18 but she only had [three] Oscar nominations as opposed to a win.

If Giancarlo Esposito wins Drama Supporting Actor, he will be the first African American to achieve it. Wins for Peter Dinklage or Aaron Paul would make any of them only 4th actor to win this category more than once (and Paul first to win non-consecutively [even if for consecutive seasons]).

“Mad Men” can very well become the first show to win 5 Best Drama Series Emmys yet to lost its all 25 acting bids.

You also forgot in the podcast but THE WEST WING also won the Drama Series emmy four times in a row.

He probably wanted to type “The West Wing” but went with “Mad Men” for the 2nd time instead as this show was on his mind at the moment.

Michael J. Fox could become the first man to win guest acting awards in both fields, comedy and drama. He previously won in drama for “Rescue Me” and he’s currently nominated in comedy for “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.

Jean Smart could become the fourth woman to win guest acting awards in both fields, comedy and drama. She previously won in comedy for “Frasier” and she’s currently nominated in drama for “Harry’s Law”. The three women who have achieved this are:
    – Beah Richards, “Frank’s Place” & “The Practice”
    – Cloris Leachman, “Promised Land” & “Malcolm in the Middle”
    – Elaine Stritch, “Law & Order” & “30 Rock”

If Jean Smart wins and Michael J. Fox wins both awards he’s up for, they would have three guest acting awards. The only people that have won three Emmys in the guest categories are:
    – Mel Brooks, “Mad About You” (3)
    – Cloris Leachman, “Promised Land” (1) & “Malcolm in the Middle” (2)

Julianne Moore could become the first person to win a Daytime Emmy for acting on a soap and a Primetime Emmy.

I don’t know whether anyone has lost more in a single year, but Ricky Gervais lost 5 in 2008
    Comedy Series – “The Office”
Made For Television Movie – “Extras: The Extra Special Series Finale”
Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie – “Extras: The Extra Special Series Finale”
Writing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special – “Extras: The Extra Special Series Finale”
Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special – “Extras: The Extra Special Series Finale”

Peter Falk won four awards for “Columbo” but one of them was for Lead Actor in a Limited Series. I think he deserves honorable mention because the Academy experimented so much with the categories in the ’70s.

    A lot:

Bill Maher could break his own record of most Emmy nominations without a win.

Michael J. Fox could be the first person to win Emmys for Guest Acting in a Comedy and a Drama series in the single year and only the second person overall after Elaine Stritch.

Maggie Smith, Jon Cryer, and Kathryn Joosten would, with wins in their respective categories, join Allison Janney and Patricia Wettig as the only people to win Emmys in two different categories for playing the same character in the same series, and join Valerie Harper, William Shatner, Ed Asner, and Robert Guillaume for just playing the same character.

Don Cheadle could become only the second African-American to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Matthew Weiner could become the most-winningest writer in the history of the Emmys with 4 writing wins. He could also tie the record by Stephen Bochco and David E. Kelley for 7 Emmy wins for Outstanding Drama or Comedy Series.

Kathryn Joosten could become the first posthumous Emmy acting winner since Diana Hyland and only the thrid after Diana and Marion Lorne.

Claire Danes could become the fifth person to win the Emmyfor Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries/TV Movie and an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy or a Drama Series after Glenda Jackson, Sally Field, Kirstie Alley, and Glenn Close.

Jim Parsons would become the thrid person to win 3 consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series after Carroll O’Connor and Michael J. Fox.

Jon Hamm could become the first person to win an Emmy for playing a race other than their own.

Robert B. Wiede or Louis C.K. could become the first person to win 2 directing awards in the same year.

According to imdb, Colleen Dewhurst died two days prior to winning in 1991 for “Murphy Brown”. I don’t know whether imdb’s information is reliable though.

Jim Parsons would become the thrid person to win 3 consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series after Carroll O’Connor and Michael J. Fox.

Don Adams also won three in a row for “Get Smart”.
