This new popular vote has GOTTA go. I think the Emmys should go back to forcing voters to actually see sample video footage.

What rule do YOU wish to see changed?

I agree. Also so no show should have more than two nominations in the same category.

I agree about the popular vote. Also, no repeat wins more than twice in a row, if you win twice you are out the following year, but you can come back the year later.

Eliminating repeat winners and multiple nominations in the same category just for the sake of having someone new win or be nominated is wrong. If your work merits a win, then you should win, regardless of any previous victories. Plus, those new champions would have an asterisk next to their wins, as they only won because the reigning winner of their respective category was ineligible. Winning means much more when you triumph over your best competition rather than against a diluted field.

Then are the Emmys really honoring the best of TV?

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

But yeah, the popular vote is awful. The thing I loved about the Emmys is that out of all of the awards shows, it was based the most on merit (which isn’t saying much unfortunately). I am already dreading a name check win for Kevin Spacey who will probably be the least deserving in his category

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

Are they really honoring the best of TV now? With that way, we’ll at least have some other winner who may or may not be deserving but at least good enough to get the majority of the votes for that particular year.
For example, we’ll see the repeat wins of 6 people in comedy and drama acting categories with this rule in motion JLD and Janney would be out this year and Aduba, Davis, Tambor, and Dinklage would be out next year etc. These are all wins people are going to complain within 4 months.

I would say that animated shows can contend in both Animated Program and Comedy/Drama Series. Maybe for performances too, but that might be pushing it.

I am dreading the new plurality vote system.

Bring back Individual Performance in a Variety Series or Special. Maybe expand the field to ten nominees with a set number for sketch performers and late-night hosts/awards hosts, or divide into two categories for series and specials. This would also eliminate sketch performers competing in the acting categories.

I would agree with the previously mentioned elimination of the popular vote and the bringing back of the Individual Performance-Variety categories.

Get rid of the 50% rule for guest performances.

I would say that it is almost perfect. People in fifty percent exactly of episodes should be allowed to go guest instead of just people in less than fifty percent.
