“Better Call Saul” is a spin-off of Emmy-winner “Breaking Bad.” “Frasier” is a spin-off of Emmy-winner “Cheers.” What other spin-off/prequel/sequel ideas do you have? The only criteria is that the original parent show must have been a winner of either Best Drama Series or Best Comedy Series.

They are more often bad than good. I am thinking of shows like “Golden Palace” and “Joey,” spin-offs from “Golden Girls” and “Friends.”

That said, I heard somewhere (I think the “Hollywood Prospectus” podcast) the suggestion of a “Mad Men” spin-off, featuring Sally Draper as she lives and parties in the New York art scene of the late 70s/early80s, and I am kind of obsessed with the idea.

Mad Men. I think they have great possibles with so many well development characters.

GoT needs at least 10 different spin-offs to tell its story undistracted and complete. Lmao

Everybody Loves Raymond almost had one for Robert. I would’ve watched that.

A remarkable number of Emmy-winning series have had spinoffs, such as All in the Family (Maude, The Jeffersons, etc.), M*A*S*H (Trapper John, M.D. and AfterMASH), The Mary Tyler Moore Show (Rhoda, Phyllis, and Lou Grant), Barney Miller (Fish), The Cosby Show (A Different World), The Golden Girls (Empty Nest and The Golden Palace), Law & Order (SVU among many others), The Practice (Boston Legal), and Friends (Joey), in addition to Cheers and Breaking Bad that it is difficult to think of ideas that haven’t already been done.

I’d personally like to see the The West Wing universe revisited at some point, but maybe with Mary-Louise Parker’s character expanded. And Homeland could easily spin-off F. Murray Abraham’s character into some other setting and still be interesting.

Anna Sophia Robb was so good in The Carrie Diaries and the CW cancelled it right when it began to find its voice. I would have given Britney and Santana a spin off show from glee. Or Ryan Murphy could just write a whole new show for the actors. Evangeline Lilly could have had a completely separate show than Lost. She had the most interesting back stories. It could have been an incredibly emotional Alias type of show.

Mr Eko from LOST for sure. His backstory was the best, and I remember watching his flashbacks thinking “Why can’t we have 24 episodes of this?”

I know OITNB isn’t a winner for either drama or comedy (its been nominated in both though!) but I’d love a Lorna Morello spin off with Yael Stone. She steals a van and we just see her driving around doing lots of crazy things. Or maybe for Rosa pre-prison.

    Kenneth from 30 Rock.

    Lilian from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

    Sally from Mad Men.

Margret from Masters of Sex. (That show needs to end).

    Schmidt from New Girl.

I used to say Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother, but the finale keeps reminding me of why that shouldn’t happen.

The Wonder Years seems rip for some sort of spin-off, perhaps a spin-off focusing on him as a parent raising kids, or his kids as adults?

It is kind of surprising to me that ABC has not yet done a spin-off from Modern Family.

In terms of drama, its kind of silly to me that there was never an L.A. Law spin-off, perhaps focusing on the same law firm with an office in another city?   I imagine if that show were on today it would have 3 or 4 different spin-offs already.

I would watch Nathan Lane in the Modern Family spin off Pepper Saltzman. The supporting cast of his father Chaim Saltzman (who is called Chad Treadwell socially), his mother, and his son Kyle could be a riot. Of course, a series focusing on a gay wedding planner would be cutting edge.

I say we actually see a form of TGS with Tracy Jordan. Have Krakowski and Morgan as Tracy and Jenna and have it be like the Comedians, but where they’re given full creative control over the show and it is stylistically similar to 30 Rock. Kenneth could also be there in a recurring role. I would love to see that.

Sally or Peggy from Mad Men. Although, part of me doesn’t want a Mad Men spinoff because it would likely take Mad Men down a few notches. If this is to happen, I don’t want it to for another several years after the novelty of Mad Men has worn off.

Also I know Looking was never even nominated for an Emmy, let alone a win, but I would love to see a Doris spinoff…!

And what about a Better Call Saul spinoff, but this time for Homeland…!?

I would watch Nathan Lane in the Modern Family spin off Pepper Saltzman.

I was TOTALLY gonna mention this if no one did. I would love to see a Pepper spin-off. Plus, maybe Lane would finally win an Emmy? (Although with the academy snubbing both Robin Williams and Billy Crystal for their lead comedy roles over the past two years, I wouldn’t hold my breath.)

Nathan Lane spin off sounds really good. Also I’d really love it if we see Cam’s young years with those extreme stories actually happening.
