If the usual industry Emmy favorite names simply repeat their wins this year like Dreyfus, Janney, Uzo, Viola, Tambor, Dinkalage is it time to can the new system?

And what if there are more Margo Martindale WTF wins?

Too many repeat wins will spark a backlash, which will prompt the academy to make changes.

Yup. I mean in this 12,000 + voter Academy are the thousands of voters who chose those winners last year suddenly gonna switch to someone new in the span of a year? As Alec Baldwin can tell you at the SAG awards, likely not.

With the exception of Dinklage, all of them look pretty strong to win again, I’m sorry to tell you.

If the repeat winners are well-received (Game of Thrones getting the trifecta) and not embarrassing (no Margo Martindale), then the elimination of panels and ranked ballots will be mission accomplished as far as the academy is concerned. I am disappointed in the media for not playing up how terrible the Martindale win was (ahem, Gold Derby), but the Television Academy is pretty good about always looking to make changes to improve things, so we can expect them not just to sit by and watch if it happens again.

Wasn’t repeat winners the norm with the last system and the one before?

Come on. If Dinklage wins again it’s a problem. He hasn’t done anything impressive this season.

Repeat undeserving winners has always been a problem with the Emmys since eons ago and every system they has tried.

I’d be more worried if Parsons were to beat Tambor.

There isn’t really a slam dunk winner in Dinklage’s category this year, though, which makes me think a repeat is likely unless they go over-the-top with Mr. Robot love and give it to Christian Slater.

Watch it be Jim Carter though lol.

I agree! The Emmy voters are one of the worst at judging art and performances. They always acknowledge the same type of roles or the most boring ones.

That’s completely untrue, the Emmys are without a doubt the best awards, in the drama side there is not a single weak winner in the last 10 years. Only legendary shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Homeland and Game of Thrones, and amazing actors as Danes, Margulies, Cranston, Hamme, Chandler, Dinkalge, Paul, Gunn, Martindale, Cannavale, Smith, Aduba, etc.
